Just make PVE servers already...

  • With Rares big push towards working together and not fighting, just make PVE servers already.

Make them separate from the pvp servers, start from level zero and progress from one doesnt transfer to the other. I would pay for this service in a heart beat.

The games fun and events work until random PVP held back group rolls up and shoots for no reason other then to troll. Just let us have PVE servers. I would rent my own for friends.

It's amazing that there's still people still whining about pvp.

  • @xrekkoffx Just cut it already. its not gonna happen. And most of us are happy about it. There is no point to a separate game. And to be honest, I cant see the issue, I have done a lot of solo slooping and I have been trolled only handful of times from the launch.

@GiggleSnarf we meet again, mr. Anderson Michigan

  • @gigglesnarf And there will be for the life of the game. Valid criticism isn't whining either.

@gigglesnarf And there will be for the life of the game. Valid criticism isn't whining either.

It's actually incredibly invalid. Your "criticism" makes no sense from a game development standpoint.

You want the devs to take away from the main theme of this game being a fun, cut throat, cooperative pirate adventure. Which is what the game set out to be.

You want to split the community into separate servers. If you hate PvP so much, avoid it. Both ships can evade one another. Just stop allowing yourself to fall prey to better players and deal with it.

  • @gigglesnarf So stop being a victim? You should be a lawyer...

  • @xrekkoffx said in Just make PVE servers already...:

@gigglesnarf So stop being a victim? You should be a lawyer...

Being the victim to an avoidable circumstance doesn't imply fault solely on the perpetrator of a crime. If you walk into a known hub for criminal activity, willingly and become a victim of crime...You are partially to blame.

Sure getting attacked when your not in the mood to fight sucks. Wanna know how to avoid that? Don't let enemy ships get close enough to you to attack you. Wanna know how to do that? Watch out for other ships and be prepared to run if you have to.

Don't jump in to a world of pirates and complain about being a victim of piracy. It's sea of thieves, not sea of friends.

  • @gigglesnarf Blame the victim, blame the victim, cause a sloop has so many options to outrun a galleon. Im done with you.

  • Youre complaining about pirates in a game about pirates...

  • @xrekkoffx just stop it already!! Or even better: Stop playing the game when you don't like the way it is!!

  • @xrekkoffx said in Just make PVE servers already...:

Sloops are faster into the wind, also much more maneuverable, sloops are OP against galleons. Ive solo sunk galleons before, its just about knowing what ur working with and the mechanics of each ship. Dont get me wrong ive sunk plenty of sloops on a galleon with my friends too, but a good sloop (single or duo) has the power to win fights. Stay in the wind or get sideways behind/in front of the gally and rip into his back/front with ur cannons, as he turns u move, dont let them get u broadside. Once u put some holes in em and they focused on repairs let the sloop sail and hop off with a boom barrel, climb their latter run downstairs and “SURPRISE!!” Now they mostly dead and u can rely on the fact theres a galleon on ur server thats gonna run at the sight of the next sloop they see

  • @xrekkoffx I understand where your frustrations come from. I have never been a pvp fan when it comes to any game. I've never excelled at it, as I don't have excessive amounts of free time to "git gud" as people often say after a pve exclusive suggestion.

However, I am a fan of the pirating! Sailing, treasure hunting, swordfights...I love it all!

I used to also get so frustrated by pvp-ers ruining my pirate experience. But then I had an ah-ha moment. It happened when I completed my 20 chest achievement. I was so thrilled. Like, overly happy about it...more so than I should have been. I called my father and fiance (both play the game) to brag. I was just so proud.

And then the ah-ha came. I was proud because I had done it. I had achieved this thing that was difficult because of Rare's immersive game experience that includes pvp. Without the pvp aspect, there would have been nothing to feel proud of.

And so, I started to embrace the pvp experience. Instead of irritation at being attacked, or sunk even, i look at it as a chance to start another story. Have I lost loot? Oh my word, yes. More than I can say. But I've gained so much as well....

The thrill and excitement of never knowing what each session will bring

The joy of evading that persistent sloop

The accomplishment of fending off the server hoppers from the fort (you know who you are!)

And so much more. The immersive nature of the game allows for pvp. But it allows for unique experiences and adventures too. And that has been Rare's intent. To create a game where everyone's experience is genuinely special.

    Try to embrace the experience!

If it still doesn't work for you, I understand. But, this game has been billed as a pvp inclusive game from its conception. I still don't care for pvp games. Which is why PUBG will never be on my shopping list. But, if I did get it, I wouldn't then ask for a non-pvp way of playing. I know what I'm getting.

I love the pvp aspect of this game. And the more I play it, the more I love it! If you keep at it, the things you gain from it will far outweigh the loot you lose!

    Happy sailing!

  • @xrekkoffx The game is designed from the ground up for PvP. So that will from what Rare have said several times not happen.

If you cant deal with the PvP aspect then I suggest to just move on to something else.

  • @xrekkoffx said in Just make PVE servers already...:

Are you by any chance from the US? As an European I noticed that the US servers are faaaaar more hostile.

So it might be an option for you to pay for a fast VPN service so you can connect to e.g. UK servers. Especially since it will be nighttime there if you play in the afternoon/evening in the US.

    Just a thought.

I haven't checked though if circumventing region lock is against the ToS of SoT. So you might want to send an email to Microsoft/Rare first asking if VPNs are ok.

    This!

I have the same feeling. Call it steriotypical but I get the feeling the US players just like shooting their guns a little more then the EU players.

  • @xrekkoffx

I only solo sloop, and to be truthful i typically out run galleons, get near land or rock, easy to out manuever. Its the two man sloops that get me. They can manuever the same as i can but can also fire and repair/fire and board simultaneously and i can only do one.

Like other posters have said, we need to play different, always looking to the horizons, and not letting ourselves come in close contact. I too try to avoid pvp at all cost usually, but to be put on a server so i can get to PL unhindered... Wheres the fun in that?

  • I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. I hope they'll never do PvE dedicated players. I'm a 100% PvE player!

The reason for me to disagree is that this would split the community. Also, despite I never engage in PvP (only if I don't have a choice) a big chunk of the excitement is to do the PvE activities always with an opened eye if someone is going to appear and try to attack me. If I knew I was in a dedicated PvE server, this would make it much boring!

And believed me, I cursed about my life countless times when I was griding PvE for hours, just to be attacked and all my loot stolen. It's just part of the game and I accept it as is.

  • In the OPs defense, not every situation is avoidable. If you're on a galleon with a c**p crew who decided to anchor and all ditch you on the boat while they scurry to go get the loot off the island, all while you're calling out a boat possibly approaching, then by the time you get the anchor back up, you already have the other ship baring down on you with people boarding and re-dropping your anchor, your options at that point are pretty limited.

  • @pasha-entreri

Another reason i sail solo lol

  • @pasha-entreri Even that's avoidable, don't ever play with randoms.

I'd rather have 1 slot open on my ship then have a random mess is up for us all.

  • @hynieth Not everyone has friends on at all hours to play with, and sometimes people don't feel like sailing solo. So at that point its either play with rando's or don't play at all until you have friends on. And even for some then, most of their friends that play the game could have already moved on from playing the game. All but like 2 of my numerous friends who got the game touch it any more and they don't plan on coming back to the game.

  • And again, my huge post about this subject:

    HAHA NO!

  • I would not play on a PVE server but I completely understand why people might.

Makes complete sense and I'm not sure why people are so against it.

  • I understand your struggle lad, but if PVE servers were implemented, it would remove the need to constantly be on the lookout for other pirates. The risk of losing your loot to the hands of others is a major factor of the game, one which shouldn’t be lost.

    Happy sailing!

  • 🤣🤣🤣🤣 no!

  • @binaryplayerone The game is designed from the ground up for PvP. So that will from what Rare have said several times not happen.

Designed for Pvp you say but it’s funny the only way to rank up is PVE. Even if you loot other players it doesn’t work unless someone does PVE. What achievements are there for Pvp? Where are the leaderboards? Any recognition for sinking or killing players? Lol no so how is this game built for Pvp?
    Hmm.....

  • Seriously go play another game if you don't like the PVP. I seriously play every day at at least a couple hours and I can count the number of times I have been trolled on one finger. They say the squeaky wheel gets the oil and somehow I think these PVP issues have to be that. I can't believe that I am some kind of PVP unicorn that is the only person in the game who hasn't been harassed. It is more likely that most people who complain about the PVP have had 1 bad experience (just like me) but choose to focus on that instead that other 99 times they have completed voyages without issue.

  • @xrekkoffx said in Just make PVE servers already...:

.... cause a sloop has so many options to outrun a galleon. Im done with you.

If thats your reasoning for pve servers, then this will sound bad: solo sloop can outrun a galleon. Duo sloop can sink a galleon.

Its basically down to skill, little bit of luck and knowing what you are doing.

  • How exactly do you propose a PVE server would work? If you respond by saying players cannot damage you or your ship then you have not thought this through at all. The end of the rabbit hole is requesting private servers.

    Hmm.....

That's part of the design. PvP and PvE goes hand in hand in this game. But the core of the game is PvP and the unknown and unpredictable things that happens when players get the option to engage with others on the level that you can in Sea of Thieves.

If you take away the PvP part the game would fall apart on itself. It's not designed for that type of experience that PvE games are designed towards. Something that should be abundantly clear when you play the game.

Asking for PvE servers is basically asking for a new game. A completely different game.

This is Sea of Thieves. Not Sea of Solitude.

It makes no sense to me why people are against it, it's either because they don't understand that some people enjoy doing the voyages & don't want / like PVP, they want to keep the non pvpers in the game as easy targets or they want everyone to follow Rare's ideals to the letter.

In my opinion More choice = More players
If people want PVE servers, let them have them.
If people want Xbox only servers, let them have them.
Some people will use them some won't, but you won't lose those players that are requesting them & it may bring in more players who wouldn't usually have purchased it.

Any player worth their salt would have had the sails up and the anchor up. Prepping for a clean getaway. Not to mention, that situation is entirely avoidable...don't play with c****y players. Crazy, I know.

Most of us don't want it because it will split the player base and the only people who want PvE are usually terrible at the game. Unwilling to actually admit that they are at fault when it comes to getting sunk. You can be attacked if you don't let it happen.

I’m all for free speech and open discourse, but...
This response should be a bannable offense. Stop telling people to quit the game because they don’t kiss Rare’s feet to your satisfaction.

Calling people whiners doesn’t help either. Pretty sure that’s against whatever rules are laid out vis a vis respecting people.

Get off your high horses and scroll on if you don’t like an idea or a set of feedback. Attacking people is so wonderful, right? Especially people having issues with the game. That’ll help player retention.

    Stay classy.
