5 o’clock shadows on IPG question

  • Anyone know if 5 o’clock shadows on the Characters on the IPG wheel can me removed/changed once in game? Or are they a permanent feature? Cause from the Alpha and Betas it appears they are a permanent feature to the characters. Can anyone confirm if they will be permanent or removal? Trying figure out if I need factor in them being there permanently when choosing a character at launch. Thanks a ton all.

  • @wesley-sanguin Ahoy there!

All beards and hair can be removed once you are in game using the vanity chest. So don't worry too much about that dodgy looking bear or haircut!

  • @musicmee Aye I see Captain MusicMee, forgive me, but just to be clear you are saying that the 5 o’clock shadow aka scruff (not beard) can be remove once in game to be completely clean shaved? Cause I could see where the scruff/5 o’clock shadow is in addition to a beard; where a beard could be placed on top of the shadow or once a beard is removed could be hiding a permanent 5 o’clock shadow/scruff... basically just wanting to make sure that the 5 o’clock shadow can be removed to have a character cleaned shaved fully. Cause I am not sure if the shadow counts as a chin look or as a beard options. Thanks for helping clarify this for me.

ALWAYS worry about the dodgy looking bear. He sells honey to youngsters. Not a good lad.

  • @Wesley-Sanguin

Considering they are not on some but on others and they are a beard im going to say yes if not delete him. then and there and make a new one if theres 0 progress doesn't matter right?

  • @wesley-sanguin It can't.

Some models have it as a base for "no current hair" and you can cover it with, but removing any still keeps the shadow. There hasn't been a 5 o clock shadow vanity option so if the model has it, that's their base "hairless" model

  • @tre-oni ahhhh Thanks Capt’n Tre-oni, this is a good thing to know for people who will be going round and round on the wheel. Thanks a ton for the info. Tis unfortunate that it’s another none adjustable factor we have to think about while looking for the Character we want to represent us. I also pick a character that looks just like myself to represent me and my immersion in a game. So happy to have the insight on what to expect.

  • @samoclarkey This raises and interesting question Captain Clarkey. Will our previously saved characters that we did not pick on the wheel still be available, or will we have to go through everything finding and saving all over again. Hmph.

  • @wesley-sanguin Unfortunately my man Wes all beta progress and characters have been reset and we will have to find them again in the random pirate generator :(

  • @samoclarkey I apologize for my unclarity Captain Clarkey, I was referring to new game character like you were originally referencing. For example... after launch if you send hours in the IPG “Stand By saving” pirates as you continuously refresh the wheel looking for the pirate you want while saving potentials... and then you select one and go into game and realize immediately that it not the one you want... so you do as you said and get rid of character and go back to IPG again... will your previously saved “stand by” pirates be available or will all be lost therefore making a player go back all over again saving and refreshing over and over again to find all new potential characters?

  • You can change your hair at any time.

  • @wesley-sanguin I would venture to guess that deleting a character and starting over would not bring you back to the same saved IPG wheel as before. They'd have to save that info on their servers, and it'd be pretty unnecessary data to hold onto in most cases. But this is purely speculation; the "save" feature is brand new. Nobody's had a chance to test it yet.

  • I'm pretty sure that you can't delete your character and start over again as a few of you have mentioned...your choice is permanent and tied to your Microsoft account. That's why the whole IPG wheel is a big deal, you have to make a choice because it's forever. If you could just delete and start over, why would there be all the threads complaining about the IPG?

Choose carefully, fellow Pirates. The pirate you choose will represent you upon this Sea of Thieves...forever!

Correction! I did see a delete pirate button, so it looks like you can delete. That changes things a bit. You lose all of your progress, but you could create a new pirate if you really can't stand the one you have.

That should make those of you that were worried about being stuck with a pirate you no longer like happy!
