Whirlpool event

  • I have a idea for a world event that spawns in front of a ship that would start out by just making kinda annoying to move around and causing a hole or two in the ship and then escalates to a whole whirlpool that would pull sunken ships from the depths and cause them to circle around, making fights near it even more dangerous. But the reward would be very substantial as the ships would have loot in them that you must climb aboard to obtain and then either get harpooned by crewmates or get pickes up by your ship circling that's circles in or around the whirlpool. But if you get to close to the center your ship would get pulled down to the same area as the dive tunnel where you can see others diving while trying to find spare parts to get your sunken vessel moving, while fending off other pirates trying to do the same thing but the parts can respawn so everyone can get out. This could be the first main activity that requires you to fight other pirates close up without any cannons. This of course would be a lot too add so maybe the whirlpool could be added one season then the underwater area the next season. Obviously feel free to change anything about this but I feel as if this could be a huge step in the right direction for this game.

  • @xynex4236 I made a very similar suggestion probably 5 years ago about having a whirpool with ships you fight and you have to keep from getting sucked into it. A giant whirlpool is a completely missed oppurtunity for an awesome world event. It would be nice to see it come to the game I agree 100%

  • I imagine it would be pretty hard to code that, especially with how much physics are at play with normal ship movement. From wind influence, to the water pushing you around, to your steering having different effects depending on what angle the boat is at. Too high of an angle might make it impossible for a boat to sail out of it at all
