I read that bosses like Briggsy, Graymarrow, and the Gold Hoarder don't eat bananas to gain health, but to communicate that they are lowering on health to the player.
I wanted to suggest that the bosses still do that, but communicate also how low their health bar has gotten by way of grades. For example:
- At 75% health the Boss eats a mango.
- At 50% health the Boss eats a coconut.
- At 25% health the Boss eats a banana.
You could reverse the order of the fruit as that would be the logical way for a player to eat fruit at those health grades. but I thought that either way this would be a neat way to both communicate to the player where they are in the fight while not pulling them out of the immersion like a health bar would.
