Tried the game but found no fun or point on it (opinion feedback only, I know ppl have their fun)

    Thing is... I'm mostly a single player, none of my friends are gamers either.
    So I tried playing this game and got killed by other players 30 seconds after my first login. I didnt even knew how to use a weapon or open an inventory, but was already dead. The whole respawn was quite confusing for a totally new player.
    Then I got killed 3 more times.
    Then I tried again a few days later and yep.. sailing is cool ... combat is too simple and repetitive.. killing skeletons.. and all.
    BUT got killed a few dozen more times while I was in menus or out tabed...

    Game should make it more clear that it's an open world pvp arena with a pirate flair.. but the PvP is simply unavoidable.
    I play mostly to relax after work, so can't do with a game that I can't go to the restroom cause I will get killed... stolen and all that.

    But graphics were kinda nice :)

    I didn't read or saw enough videos to realize that "shared world adventure game" meant I could be ganked in the very first seconds of first playing the game.
    Nor that all I looted in a mission could be stolen.
    Plenty of games use that description and are not as PvP oriented, or allow all the loot stealing that SoThieves allow.
    "engage in ship to ship... pursuing rivals" and "any sail could be another crew of players" also doesn't describe that the PvP is completely open up to the point that every outpost is in fact an open arena.
    I mean, every MMO/MMORPG could use these same descriptions.. in WoW even, everyone can be a real player.. it's a shared world where you can pursue rivals... BUT this game is really an open arena with no pauses or safe zones at all.

    I got it, it's the Devs. idea for the game to make it feel like a "sea of thieves".
    I'm NOT saying the game is wrong nor bad, and you are right to point to the stores description.
    BUT I'm also right in that these same descriptions could be used to describe far more forgiving and less PvP oriented games.

    Unfortunately for me, I like my games more relaxing. Maybe I'm just getting old.
    But I can't really enjoy a game where I feel I can't really go grab some water on the fridge without losing the last 2 hours of "advancement"...
    BUT I will repeat.. these are just my personal opinions and feedback.

    Seems like alot of ppl have this problem actually. I did alot of rescearch and once i seen no holds bar pvp i knew it was for me. A better tutorial would be nice. That seems like a big complaint too.
    For the record OP i just turned 37. You are not to old for this type of game. But u are correct that its not a relaxing environment.
    I hope u dont give up on it tho. Once u learn the ropes and get better, you will learn when u can run to the bathroom, grab a snack etc etc. This game has alot that makes it special. You are gonna miss out on one of the best gaming experiences if you leave before you learn

    I think you're either very unlucky (the game is supposed to set you up so you're not likely to encounter others for approximately 30 minutes), or exaggerating (due to being overly emotional), or trolling (because they, unfortunately, exist). Experience, of course, definitely has a role to play in how well you do. For example, I sail for HOURS every day without getting attacked, and I've played nearly every day since the closed alpha, but I have also learned how to sail, stay vigilant, and dissuade potential attackers/thieves.

    Also, you won't lose hours of work if you turn your loot in more often.

    Everybody's right - you should be playing more, and learning more. I know 1st impressions mean a lot, but I urge you to keep trying, perhaps with some more experienced players by your side to show you the ropes.

    It's not like WoW, where you can eat a sandwich and fight, cast spells, and whatnot.

    You need to be engaged, hands on, in the moment.

    The sea is a cruel mistress.

    You know it soooo random with this game. I quit adventure mode a good 7 months after launch due to lack of content and spending all my time sailing around looking for PvP vs a Gally or maybe a Brig if they engaged my Solo self. But I could go for 30 mins or so before I found one, and even then they were rarely ever a match for me, ran away or begged for a alliance. However, I logged into Adventure mode a week or so ago just to see if anything new was around and decided to spiff up me Brig and set sail and almost immediately I had a enemy Brig come at me with their cannons ablazing but instead of engaging them I thought I'd test my Solo sailing skills against them and easily lost them, they gave up. So it's a flip of the coin. However, the game is called Sea of Thieves so I think you should expect the possibility of meeting said Thieves amongst the Seas.

    This game does need a better tutorial for sure. Maybe not maneuvers, but at least more of the basics than eat a banana, find a quest, and go. It's too bad you weren't able to do anything, but it's not always constant pvp. I was able to play for about an hour and a half this morning and only saw a peaceful brig and sloop on the distance.

    Wow, i made it one time into the game and more or less instantly saw another ship heading for the outpost.
    1 time in over a year of playing.

    Complaining because getting killed while afk or tab'd out in a Multiplayer action game?
    Seriously? I mean this is no point and click adventure or a round based tactics game you know?!

    Your opinion after trying a game for 30 minutes or whatever is your opinion for sure, nothing wrong about that.
    But why the heck do you think this is viable feedback or suggestions?

    @bugaboo-bill He could be right. At the end of a session we usually destroy the ship to see if any loot was left behind and I've often had a sloop spawn in as soon as our ship despawns.

    As for the age thing. I'm late in my thirties and I for one fund SoT incredibly relaxing. There is no non cosmetic progression so loss is a lot less taxing. And besides back in my day a lot of games were PvP. Ranging from arcade fighting games to the origional Mario Bros. And you could even say arcade games were PvP with scores abd everything.

    @hynieth i dont say he lies, i know it can happen, but this is something that happens so often like you see the Shrouded Ghost.

    I'm 42 btw and i think the game is very relaxing and i also can go afk, even when soloing, although it do that very less. The game is a MP PvP game and soloing can be fun and tense and all that, but it's way more fun with other players.
    My friends also dont play games, but over the years i have found online friends or make some new ones for the game i like to play and i never had big issues finding some.

    The OP is for sure a short feedback after sone short time playing, but we need to point on several wrong or lets say questionable claims.
    You for example can spot possible enemies very early and you have enough time to react and decide what to do next.
    Learning this takes some time and also maybe some advice from more experienced players.

    Players who are here for pure PvE and pure Solopaly are guilty by themself and can for sure make a less satisfying experience, because the game is not for PvE only and also not suited for soloplayers.

    I wonder all the time why peopme dont get it?
    As if i go play a SP RPG and complain about lack of players and too much text to read. Weird.

    But to me the Game says crystal clear what it is about.

    "Venture out onto a vast ocean where every sail on the horizon could signify a ship full of real players, who may be friendly to you, and possibly hostile."
    (translation, because i dont see the HP in english)

    Getting attacked by players immediately upon starting is pretty rare. It only happens when you occasionally start at an outpost that other players are camping (no ship there). It happens, but it's so uncommon that it's not really an issue. Just start a new game. You've lost nothing.

    Playing alone can be very lonely and will always be extremely challenging. Maybe try using Random Crews? At least until you learn the ropes. This game is weighted heavily in favour of playing as a team.

    Playing alone can be fun. But you have to stay on your toes and learn some extra tricks. You can go AFK for a few minutes to go to the bathroom. Once you've played for awhile you will recognise the best times to do this.

    Yes the game is repetitive (although it is getting better). Again, playing in a Crew will add variety to each game and can make for some fun and memorable adventures.

I have had peopLe board my ship while loading in yesterday two dudes hid on my slooo both of them #notmypiratelegends hopped off my boat to check for a rowboat and my boat sailed off I spawned back in killed the guy at the wheel his buddy tried attacking me killed him immediately and didn't see them again. Learn how to be good at pvp in this game and you'll have a good time

    sea of thieves definitely gives me a sense of paranoia that other games dont. i think its the long streches of time you can go without seeing another player. i always feel like one is about to board me, or is lining up cannons on my tub while i am on an island somewhere.
    i dont think i would have it any other way though.
    if youre finding yourself getting killed so often and feel like you cant even step away for a slash, maybe consider going open crew on a brig or galleon. seems most of the people that have these kinds of complaints are solo-slooping while relatively green.

    @mauriciosalgado bruv, did you accidentally log into arena mode? In adventure mode i can generally park my ship, toddle off to the kazi, spot of dinner, read the bible cover to cover then come back and nothing has changed, are we playing the same game?

    @nikjw Lol read the bible cover to cover and come back to what? A lazy beard error? don't over exaggerate examples. It's one of the many reasons the community is in such a mess.

    @shinten-rai exaggeration it may be and one would assume that obvious. However, it makes the point.... struggle to understand two things though... 1. What mess is the community in? (Few people moaning and such like but we're hardly in a mess) 2. If said mess was the case then how me exaggerating exascerbates that..... P.S my bible is Gideons, so 60% of the pages have been used as rizla making for a quicker read!!!
