    I'm already past this stage but it's really annoying that you get 300 overweight grandmothers in the selection menu.

    I took over 3 hours until i came across my pirate, and boom instant locked him. THREE hours because I couldn't create the character that I want.

    I understand many people want ugly pirates, in my case, I like mine looking all dandy and gorgeous, but why do you get so many ugly overweight and over aged grandmothers? I'm sure somewhere out there on the world there is a granny who wants to play with her grand kid, but I know for a fact grannies are not the largest population in this game.

    • Let players choose gender (male/female) - I'm a guy. I want to play a guy. And I do remember it at the beginning it being so frustrating to keep getting female characters when I solely wanted male options.
    • Let players choose body style (fit, bulky, lean, chubby, slim, skinny, etc) - guys I'm a gym rat. I workout 5 days a week and obviously I want a character that resembles that. I don't want to get a bunch of body types that aren't similar to mine, and I'm sure it's the same for many. PLEASE this is one is probably the most important aside gender.
    • Let players choose skin color - I got lucky with mine, but I can only imagine a person of a less diverse background, I'm not the expert in this but let's say Eskimos for example, and if they have a very specific skin tone and want their character looking similar, for them to only get either too light or too dark skin tones.
    • Let players choose head shape (square, round, etc.) - some characters have very different head shapes. I have a round face/head, so I obviously wanted to play a character similar to me.
    • Let players choose eyes AND EYE COLOR
    • Let players choose nose

    I have a really good friend who was discouraged after 3 weeks of playing because he didn't like his character. He said he tried to spend about a good 30 min (and honestly, 30 min creating a character is a little over average) and got so desperate because he kept getting, as I recall "fat ugly old ladies" so he ended up choosing a half-decent looking character. And he quit because he didn't want to re-roll and start over.

    You should seriously consider this, specially for a game where the main focus is cosmetics and looks as the main reward, players being able to customize their character bodily looks is crucial.

    I spent 4 hours in the pirate generator, It was horrible.

    We asked rare to change it at the release of the game, Months later They didn't change it. :( I'm sure they want to keep it how it is.
    Hopefully, they will release some kind of creation in the future so that we can spend doubloons or something to change the look.

    I really hope they plan to give the character creation a face lift this year as part of the road map, I would love to dig into all the bits and pieces that make up their IPG system to truly make a pirate of my own.

    I don't mind the creator. Just the fact that there is no way to change your character once you have chosen.

    Why would it be obvious that you'd want your character to resemble yourself?

    You can think of the random pirate generator as something akin to Real life.

    You don't get to pick how you look IRL, so may as well just love the face you were given.

    IMO if you get a fat pirate and want to loose some weight, they ought to come up with something there, but outside of that "workable" solution "I see no sense in changing the RNG factor, it's kinda nice to know that I don't have to see 4000 of the same exact pirate all the time.

    I agree the game would greatly benefit from a more robust character generator. At least pick one from the round robin approach and fine tune the look. Rare needs to add a way to regenerate character appearance in retail. For some reason seems faster to find a more satisfying character in the Insider side of the sea. Would like to copy that character’s looks over my toon in retail.

    No need to hate on grandmas. To many they are loving members of one’s family. They can often bake the best cookies 🍪 too!

    you should look into my POST then about Adding a Barber, who would alter your characters skin tones, hair, facial features,, body types scars, tats and teeth.. since barbers did those things back in that time anyway, it would make sense that people could pay via Gold Coin or maybe Doubloons to alter the Characters Avatar..
