I shouldn't be affected by this kind of stuff, but i can't help it...

  • How is it possible after so. many updates for loading times, almost every patch has a note about it, that this keeps happening to me?

I was (am) playing alone on a sloop, just sailing with an active quest (for miles) after Skelly-ships and megs.
Had a server merge and in that server there was a Ship Raid active... wasn't my first intention do go fight for it, however after circumnavigated all the Shores of Plenty and The Ancient Islands and seen no skelly ships I decided to try the Raid alone.

Everything went smooth (I've my own methods to take care of this alone) until the last ship, the captain. no more ships to sink, only that one.
Unfortunately I gave my position and while I was shooting they were able to perform a Double shot, 2 straight cannonballs hitting me. Insta kill...

I thought: "it's okay, I have no previous holes on the hull, only those that killed me so I probably can make it and patch it when return from the Damned. I made this so many times before. It's a sloop." Never been so wrong... The loading time was absurd !!! When I returned my ship was already gone and there I was standing on a far away Island.....
And if that wasn't enough, as soon as I was climbing the stairs I got another server merge.....

Obviously I got mad! After all that flawless efforts on a thing that wasn't even my main objective, I got defeated by a LOADING TIME and ANOTHER SERVER MERGE ?!

oh my god... it's frustrating... i'm sorry, I can't help it, but I really feel there's something about this game... something odd... by a loading time and a server merge ... oh my god.

  • I swear, sometimes it seems the game simple hates me...

After that episode, I decided to try my luck in The Wilds.
As soon as I entered the region the Kraken spawns. No big deal , I thought. I've faced so many Krakens even on Sloop, It's easy but I didn't feel like wasting supplies against it, so I decided to turn around and left the ink... But the Kraken didn't feel the same way.
As soon as I turned the ship around, without much warning she sucked me with one tentacle and with other slapped the ship! "Oh my God, really?!" I though as I struggled to find the tentacle's body to shoot, but it kept balancing me around without showing it. The only thing I could think about was the water entering the ship.
Another swing and I finally saw the tentacle body, hit it and got released.
As I was already reaching the ship another tentacle slapped the ship... Just near the end of the ink mark... Just when I was almost reaching it... Sunk, again...

I don't understand the algorithm of this game, seems like it's programed to screw us and frustrating us.

Again on my ship, I saw a wandering skeleton ship on the distance. Unfurled the sail on the wind and reached the destination in no time.
But the game still had more to give me of his beautiful screw you face.

Fired the cannons against the skellies to start the battle. They turned with the natural agility of a skeleton ship (almost instantly, because F* physics) and fired back. their first shot blew me away from my ship... Awesome, what a start.
There I was in the middle of the ocean, swimming on the opposite direction of my ship in hope for the mermaid appear .. but nothing, and kept swimming away... And nothing... And my ship taking fire on the distance... And no mermaid, no smoke.. when she finally decided to appear it was on my ship's direction, far far away from me. Turned around and swam back. Obviously when I catch the mermaid she spawned me in the water to see my ship sinking...

I decided to turn off the console and played another thing...

This game hates me, hates me so badly sometimes... I just don't know why. We have a long term relationship and even though it does me thing like this. 😔

  • @nunoazuldimeter The trick to managing anger is acceptance.

  • @foxdodge I do accept that I'm the unluckiest pirate ever ahahah.

    Start! I'm curious now.
And you better not say "I ALWAYS have to sail INTO the wind", we ALL do lol
My thing is constantly falling off my ship while we're sailing. I swear some days I spend more time in the water than on my ship...

  • @truthfullist56

Holy cow. Where to begin my friend?

I remember one day I had had enough of just being bullied around. Ship shot all up and what not. And I sailed past a sloop that was docked at an outpost. I took a few potshots at it. Kind of a "I'm having a bad day so I'm going to spread it because misery loves company" sort of thing. Nah. Bruh tracked me down, I was sailing INTO the wind of course =p Through a storm and everything. Guess that I kinda brought that one upon myself though. lol

I was purchasing voyages from the gold diggers tent and all of a sudden I heard a "BANG" and my character fell down. On the way to the ferrymen I then heard "yeah, I just killed somebody on the island."

OH! Like the first day that I decided to play the game I was just wandering around and there were a couple of other pirates around who just kept killing me and I didn't even know how to equip my weapons or anything so that kept me away from the game for a good couple of weeks until I decided to try it again.

Learned the hard way about not carrying too much treasure aboard your ship at one time because more often than not, if players don't attack you, the game itself WILL. Megs, krakensssss, whatever. Im still pretty new to the game so I've learned that I can handle the damage that the meg's do but have yet to successfully manage a win against a kraken or skelegeon.

Granted, most of it was probably just learning pains but good lord was it difficult to maintain an interest to get involved in the game itself after so much failure at first.
