The despawn timer for loot in the seas is too short

  • Oké. So it's rarely enough to get all the loot spawned for the seamonsters and skeleton ships after they are destroyed. And that's not the only thing. The spawn timers make to so you swim to it and have to secrafice some loot, while the other crewmembers do the same. Even if you sail closer, while one person is fixated on or near the loot its most often not enough. And it's even worse when there's only two players, let alone for solo players. What annoys me is that I have to drop half the booty to get atleased that most precious loot on the ship while the rest struggles to get a few other items. So in the end. You'll end up losing some loot you could have gotten otherwise. I even had one occasion where we sunk a ship but my cremate was send to the ferry of the demned, and I couldn't get the ship close enough In time to get the loot and take it. We searched a little bit after he came back, but not to my surprise, we could not find it after he got back. Its a waist. In my experience, it's better to have a longer spawn timer, or have the loot be above the ocean when it spawns so its easier to get to and see.

  • Rowboats are your friend.

  • @strategymamber even if you can't get a rowboat, the timer on the loot is actually longer now than it used to be - we used to lose loot a lot more often! At least we can also see it now as well glinting in the water - a major boon for floating treasure hunters out there!

  • Oké. Yes that's true, but it's still a loss if we can't get all treasure if we really want to. It's also disappointing for those who steal your stuff as well, seeing its going to give them only half the stuff they could have gotten. Especially if they managed to sing a ship filled with loot of over 10000 gold. No ones going to be able to take enough of that. Its still a big loss. I'm not saying they didn't try to make it better. Im only giving my feedback in that it's still not sufficient.

  • @strategymamber remember that you can keep the treasure afloat by picking it up and dropping it as this resets the timer.

Pick up each item and drop them, then take the one you want next. Rinse and repeat and you should be able to keep the whole lot afloat.

  • @strategymamber Yes, pick it up, drop it, the timer is reset. This actually saved me a ton of gold after a Kraken attack. I was solo and going to load loot into the rowboat, but it'd been in the water a bit too long, so I just started picking up and dropping things. Unfortunately, one piece of loot was too close to a mermaid and, even though the F marker was clearly over the piece of loot, I ended up teleporting to my respawned ship with that loot still floating. By the time I got back, it was all starting to sink again, but I was able to get it back. If I hadn't touched all of it beforehand and reset the timer before I was teleported, I would've lost it all.

  • @sshteeve that's fun and all if you know where uur loot is. But if you still have to look for the loot because you know you're close but it's somewhere in the area it still can be a bit to short of a notice. Like today when I sunk a skelly ship, and we were somwhat sailing in circles, it became hard to find it. So we ended up losing where it was exactly. I usualy jump to it and let my friend find me. But this time he died, then it sank, and I couldn't just leave the ship sailing. So I had to stay on the boad. Its not perfect. I'm simply saying, it's not a good enough system. If people have to reset the timer in general, then it's not fixed. Then it's just something that needs a bit more testing a messing around till people can do it with as little problems as possible. So yeah, just because you can see it in the distance, if you can't keep track of it when you have to go back or wait for someone to come back from an Ingame thing that is a high possibility to happen. Like having a dead crewmember and having to keep the ship afload because no one else can help with that, what happens to ba something that keeps happening to me, then I guess it's not a refined system. I'm not saying it's not good what they did. And they did enlarge the timer. But it's still not tweaked enough.

  • I think the timer is in place for a reason. But I will agree there are times like the Kraken or the Ghost Ship clouds that you can't stop fighting to pick up items. Perhaps maybe the best compromise would be to have the the areas (the Krakens Ink/Shadow and the spots where the Skellyship spawn and are tethered) not even BEGIN their despawn timer until the event (The last tentacle dives and the shadow shrinks or the ghost ship cloud greens out) is over

  • @uhndeth that would best help out. Because otherwise we're kissing out on loot. However they should have a way to mark the place the ship sank, might also work out to get the loot.
Because otherwise the despawn timer is still troublesome. Though if you solo it's still nearly impossible to get all the loot.
