Better if they were green with a white trophy and skulls for Xbox Live colours.

  • I like them but feel they could have been better if you had a skull for each of the achievements you unlocked.
Kudos to Rare for them though they do indeed look sweet on a sloop.

  • @ixxolos Sadly that would require multiple sails.

  • @karloss00 Yes indeed the idea would require multiple sails to be designed by the Rare team not that players would get multiple sails however.
They would just receive the one that signified the number of over achievements they earnt. So same trophy design but with 1-8 skulls on.
Although just how difficult it would be to add more skulls and change the placements of them on the sails in accordance to the number of Achievements earnt i have little idea about.

I did a little modding on Dawn of War 1/2 for army badges so I sort of have an idea on how it works.

It will really depend on how you wanted the skulls to interact with the sail; Are they a tally for the total amount you have or is each skull designated to an achievement? The first would be about eight image files for eight lines of code, when one is selected the code is read and the matching file is loaded in to texture the sail with the correct colour. For example taking the screenshot above that could signify six achievements, with eight putting another two skulls on the centre sail of the middle mast.

The second however is an entirely different scenario as I'm fairly certain they haven't got a system for such detail in the customisation. For each combination of achievements they would require a different sail with skulls matched in different places. Now I'm not the best with maths so I used google to find out the answer to how many combinations that would be - and that's 256. 256 different sails (both images and lines of code) if each skull denoted a specific achievement the hard-working pirate earned before the patch.

Unless they implemented a system to display these skulls in another way so it only required one sail image in the data archive and a skull image to display when using said sail in eight different places on the sail it would take a lot of space up either on the customer's hard drive and/or the servers because everyone will need the files to see the sail on each other's ships.

I can throw an image together if that helps, I know my writing can get confusing to some.
