Ship's kobolds! Hobgoblins! The Klabautermann!!

  • I would like to have ship's kobolds, hobgoblins nesting in the ship by chance. Such a goblin causes unrest, you can hear his murmuring voice, it knocks, you hear footsteps of small and fast feet, it changes (a little) the sails, the course, the flag. If you are in deep thoughts - for example at the map table - the goblin quickly changes parts of your clothes, it steals your hat, changes your hairstyle, changes your equipment, repaints the ship, moves treasure around the ship. If a prank succeeds, it giggles. It gets drunk and then sings soft goblin shanties. It uses bananas, leaves banana peels on the floor on which you slip and leaves stains on the nautical chart. Because it's shy, you only see it's footprints on the floor, fading away as you look on them.

A goblin can only enter the ship at outposts. If you have a goblin on board, you have to look past the critical points (steering wheel, anchor, supplies, ...) more often. The goblin is shy, it doesn't show up then. If it can't show itself, because the pirates are vigilantly on patrol, it becomes grumpy and scolds quietly. You don't understand his language, but you notice how it gets angry.

There is only one way to get rid of the leprechaun: it has panic-stricken fear of chickens. When a ship arrives on board, you hear the goblin scream in fright and then whimper quietly. A chicken in the crow's nest drives the goblin away, it will immediately leave the ship at the next outpost.

  • @goedecke-michel Whislt I admire your enthusiastic idea, I will have to say that it wouldn't really fit in with the game and would not add any real value for the devs time.

  • I don't know if Goblin is the right translation, in German they are called "Klabautermann". They are part of any old "Seemannsgarn", and yes, they will fit, way better then skellies and megalodons.

Maybe hobgoblin, ship's kobold will be a better word.

  • @goedecke-michel said in Goblins!:

    I googled it.

"A Klabautermann is a water kobold that assists sailors and fishermen on the Baltic and North Sea in their duties. It is a merry and diligent creature, with an expert understanding of most watercraft, and an irrepressible musical talent. It is believed to rescue sailors washed overboard."

    That's actually pretty neat.

  • Got my upvote for the water kobold alias Klabautermann!!!

  • @octopus-lime sagte in Ship's kobolds! Hobgoblins! The Klabautermann!!:

As they already work on pets, a Klabautermann could use the same code, but just be that kind of pet no one would like to have on board.

  • @goedecke-michel but there is a lot more story behind Klabautermann...
Some of em are soo good to the Crew so the Members start trying not to loose thier Klabautermann, by letting him do his jokes on and on...
One more i can remember is
“A Crew who lost thier Klabautermann, is a dead Crew, they wont come back sailing the Seas, they disappear“

  • @zannarii so you may be visited by a good Klabautermann - or an evil one.

  • @blackbeard-lufy Klabautermann, sister.
