New idea for random chest spawn

  • So I loved the new mechanics brought in by the GP skeleton event, and I love how the skeletons spawn out of the ground holding an explosive barrel, and I know a lot of people have asked for some kind of reward for killing skeletons outside of OoS voyages, so here's my idea:

    Occasionally, even if very rare, instead of an explosive barrel, a skeleton could spawn holding a random chest instead. They could be very difficult to kill, and obviously with their hands full the can't attack you, so maybe they could have a similar curse to the new mermaid statues that deal damage just from proximity. The chest could be randomized from the ones in the game already, or it could be a new kind of cursed chest to go along with the new cursed skeleton, and even after killing the skeleton, the chest could also deal damage while carrying it or when you're just really close to it.

    What do you think?

  • Or if the chest is cursed and deals damage, the skeleton wouldn't necessarily need to be cursed, just immune to the curse, and they would effectively use the cursed chest as a weapon

  • Great idea, and why not. Would make the engagement with the random skellies much more rewarding. Rather than running off once you have what you went for.

  • Rare already has the animation for a Skeleton holding a Gun Powder Barrel, it would be easy for them to make the Skeletons able to carry Chests.

  • this should be a thing but i don’t agree with the “damage whilst carrying mechanic” i don’t think that would fit, maybe it could spawn a couple skeletons occasionally? i don’t know.

  • Maybe insted of being damaged while near it, it spawns a horde of like 10 or so and it sits in the middle

    Yeah that was the only part of the idea I was shaky on. I was trying to think of a way to make a skeleton that can't attack you still dangerous. Maybe if the skeleton with the chest spawns with a bunch of normal cutlass skeletons that try to protect him, that might work, or maybe The skeleton uses to chest to deflect bullets and sword attacks so it's not necessarily dangerous but a lot more difficult to kill?

    Not a chest, a skull. Oos need more stuff. GH already have two cursed chests
