Server selecting

  • a lot of players who try to have friends on the same server are forced to have server jumps till they get the right server together, which takes up a lot of game time for a lot of people wh are on a limited service they only get so much time daily to even enjoy aa game, so having a system placed in to where players can actaully pick the server they wana be on with out needing to be on the same crew as some ofthere other friends letting them form alliances and fleets to completel daily activities with the friendly crew quests... have some way to selct the servers for those players who wana be able to play with their in tire group

  • In the latest Inn-side Story the developers are talking about the possibility of fleets. This subject was also talked about at E3 this year. So we can consider that the developers are working on a possible feature to join up with other crews to get on the same server. It would probably take a while before this feature will be released, so don't expect it anytime soon.

  • @nathang86 I really don't think this should be a thing. The whole idea is that as you venture around the world you come across other players and have no idea of their intent or how they'll react to you - it sets a tension which I feel is part of the foundation of this game. What you propose would completely eliminate that. Want to work cooperatively with another crew? That's great, you're encouraged to do that, but you're going to have to use the tools provided and soft skills with random crews to achieve that cooperation, it should be a premeditated thing.

Now granted, some players are getting around this by asking other crews to invite their friends to their crew before they log out, so now there are two ships of friends in the same server. But at least that requires some form of cooperation with another random crew in the first place to make that happen.

  • @luciansanchez82 I think it will depend on what systems they have in mind for forming fleets. I definitely see how being the one ship on a server that's not in the fleet could be a nightmare, and letting a crew fill the entire server with friends is no different to creating a safe zone.

I wouldn't mind fleets being officially supported through shared loot etc though, as this might encourage more people to work together for mutual benefit. It's a delicate balancing act though and I'll reserve judgement until I hear what they have in mind.

Question: if you had to choose between either player bounties or player fleets which would you prefer?

I'd go with fleets, that way we could police the servers ourselves without needing bounties, or judges, or courts, or due process, or anti-police brutality laws

Pure guess work here, but I would imagine fleets as being a mechanic used in game to approach another crew and share voyages and such. All ships in that fleet will then have a common goal to work toward for that session. As opposed to being able to form a fleet by inviting friends to the server you're on.

Maybe it's a clan system, in which the more loot you turn in, the more rep you earn towards your clan to unlock exclusive stuff? (I'm thinking Destiny 2 style).

  • rare seems to be focusing on friendship and cooperation of several diferent crews

the hungering deep DLC, the bildge rate season , and mostlikely with the island of ash and the cursed sails DLC in the future their focu is on team work

so having made friends and then asking those friends to return with a easier server jump system to continue helping your new alliances instead of saying good bye the moment they log off would help

having any kind of server system to help keep friends together on the same server
