Ship Resources - Allow us to sell them?

    Getting back into the ever beautiful Sea of Thieves on my trusty sloop, I realised that gathering resources had been something I always did. I enjoy filling up my resources to the max; and I always stock my ship as much as I can before I head out and continue to do so at every island I visit just in case I need them. But, 9/10 times I don’t really need them besides the occasional banana and the occasional plank (it’s only right to let islands know you’re pulling up by giving them a gentle nudge.. right ?).

    When I finished playing the other day ending the session with the beautiful Becalmed as my fully stocked ship sank to the depths, I had an idea.

    What if players were able to “sell” their fully stocked barrels to the merchant’s alliance (or shipwright?) for some coin and some reputation?

    We are already able to sell merchant crates that we fill up with resources, why not give us the ability to trade the resources we gathered on our ship as well?

    @erinom3 I've thought about that too. I hate to say goodbye to a fully stocked ship, especially if all I really need is to take a break for a few minutes. It would hurt a lot less if instead of wasting all those hard earned resources, I could sell them before departing. Or heck, even just put them back on an outpost for the next pirate to plunder (who might even be me). We do work hard for those resources. Although they are their own rewards (necessary for a successful voyage), it seems an awful shame that at the end of a session they simple vanish into the ether. I'm with you.

    Why would someone give you money for pigs, chickens, or snakes that you picked up for free? Resources are valuable. There are already voyages for bananas (and I assume planks and cannonballs?) that you can turn in for gold. So clearly they do have value.

    @erinom3 I reckon the shipwright might appreciate a few planks, the blacksmith a good few cannonballs and the general store, bananas? If you could go to them and suggest as your ship is well stocked that you'd like to sell a few items, maybe it could be done automatically or they'd give you a specific item to fill, even grog rations to the tavern?

    @genuine-heather I understand your point. But they do have the crates that you can fill up and sell. So there is sort of a dynamic for cashing in for your "over-stock" already in the game.
    Maybe you have to see the resources that you leave on your ship as a down-payment to the "Ship Gods" who give you a free ship the next time you play?

    Haha! I always assumed I stole the ship from some hapless soul. We're pirates, after all!

    That's why I "end" the game about 10 minutes before I have to really quit so I can give away the fully stocked vessel via Discord.
    Makes people happy :)
    She may not look like much with all the cannonball-holes but she's a good ship, alright?

    What if every time a ship left a server, 1 crate of supplies (chosen at random, and with a random amount), magically appears/spawns on an island somewhere in the server?

    Just my opinion but I think this could be easily solved by the merchants selling the loot crates. If you could buy a crate for your planks, cannons, bananas whatever then fill it up and turn it in.

    I do think the same should go for snake baskets and chicken coops etc. It would just be really handy. And would also solve the need to buy a merchant quest, just to collect the crates and cancel it again.

    Someone left me a cannonball crate when I spawned in last night, so I made sure to fill it up and pass it on before I left.
