Searching for Open Crews.... hah.

  • So I often try and find a random gally crew to play with via searching the Open Crews, but I've noticed that most of the time no one has microphones, if if they do only one person is using it. Also most of the time it chucks me into games where everyone is just a Sailor literally playing the game for the first time.

Often I spawn on the ship to hear a massive bang as we crash into a island only to watch the crew all jump off and dig up a castaway chest while the ship sinks. (I watch because if they get themselves into this sort of situation I'm not going to bother getting them out of it.)

We really need to work it so that we get paired with people using mics more often, it would also be nicer if I could get more people closer to my current rep levels as well. Also please don't stick us on sinking ships or into matches where everyone has already left. These are my only requests. ;)

    Happy sailing out there.

ps. how do people expect to play on a crew without communicating with each other? I've never stuck around long enough to find out.

  • My first crew in the game put me, a complete noob (with a mic) with a not-quite-legend player who kindly explained everything to me.

...but yeah, pretty much every group since has been what you described above. I group exclusively with people I know or have already met ingame now.

  • Yeah, everyone I play with normally plays late on in my time zone

  • Public crews are almost always a gong show. It is what it is.

I join to offer a bit of calm, an offering to settle the chaos, a leader, a beacon - and most times it ends in a well-wish and a tip of my cap.

Communicating is key - if you don’t have a mic, acknowledge thru text chat. If someone asks you a question - respond.

It’s not difficult. I have spent countless hours disciplining people, showing proper etiquette, sharing tactics with those who are deserving - and meeting some really cool people along the way.

Open crew - never short on excitement

  • I remember those times where the joy of this game was about meeting random players. Everyone communicated and the ones who didn't would be put in the brig to avoid unwanted surprises. The experience was acquired through experience from "older" players.
    Ohh old days.... Ahah

I need to say this too, since launch I haven't play a single time with matchmaking only... no thanks! No more matchmaking to me... The players exponentially got so much "selfish", not communicative, troll, toxic and unleveled..
The closed crew, thankfully, arrived to help us in that matter. However search options would be really helpful for players without friends available to play with.

  • Biggest pet peeve is the lack of ship etiquette when it comes to sailing the seas. If im on helm (mostly what i do) and i politely tell the crew to adjust sails/ pull them, it should get done right? Nope, mostly people on the bow of the boat playing instruments and taking sword swings at one another.

  • Find a crew from these forums. Playing with randos is just asking for a headache

  • They seriously need to work on this, so far today I've had nothing but people join into a tavern and say nothing.... then leave.
