Chest of Sorrow - Too Much Water [for a Sloop]

  • @warspyder thx Captain obvious. Did you also prefer to not read all the comments in the thread to understand what this is really about before providing your amazing suggestions?

Dealing with a sorrow chest as a solo player on a sloop is not challenging, what you suggest is what myself and probably everyone else does. Try getting 2 or 3 before you get the chance to turn in, see if you still feel the same about my "complaints".

  • @personalc0ffee You can't hang off the ladder on a sloop to avoid your hull being filled, only on a galleon. I do remove it from the boat when going on shore. Read the threads before commenting? A chest of sorrow (not plural) is easy to manage.

  • @personalc0ffee actually it is correct, doesn't matter how close to the water you are. It even fills your hull when you drop it overboard, go see for yourself. Bugs have been filed for both these situations.

I looted 2 on one island the other day. You suggest I only ever keep 1 on board? This item needs some attention from the design team, that's it. Leaving them behind is a ridiculous solution.

  • @namekninja The answer seems pretty clear & easy to me....As soon as you get the Chest of Sorrows....drop it off at an outpost!

Don’t try to go for the “big haul” with a single chest, let alone multiple chests. That’s counter productive.

You do not need the CoS for the achievement for twenty chests.

Drop it off and carry on. You can even do a “sail-by” and set your ship on a straight & open course, jump off/cash in and catch a mermaid.

I play a lot of solo too, so I get it. This is what I’ve done many times and I’ve had zero issues. If you still want to sail around while collecting CoS Chests on your sloop after all of these great players have given you some great advice, then you’re only asking for trouble. Good luck. I hope you Figure out the best course of action.

  • @namekninja Then be smarter? Go turn in as soon as you have one? Don't complain if you don't want suggestions.

  • Thanks for the input all. It's clear very few are encountering the frustration I am when managing a voyage with numerous sorrow chests on board, I'd be curious to know if your opinions change when you get to a high enough level where you get these frequently.

Maybe the dev's have had issues reported with this item and will come across this post and choose to do something, but for now I see no point in continuing to try helping others understand why I believe this unique behavior item needs some attention.

@iduskk So you would prefer to have your ship take on more water from these chests? Have you ever had more than one on board? Leaving them behind means you'll never get the achievement. Heading straight to the outpost as soon as you get one breaks your navigation plans and interferes when you want to go for a big haul.

Solo a sloop, get some sorrow's, see if you enjoy the experience. Perhaps the issue is that this item's attributes aren't designed for both Galleon and Sloop specifically yet. The hull of a Galleon is way bigger than a sloop and if this chest is dispensing water at the same rate regardless of what ship you have, it seems broken.

No I said it's fine as is, but if they were to change it id argue make it stronger. It is not difficult to solo sloop with a chest of sorrows.

Of course it changes your navigation plans and makes things annoying. That's the point. It's a cursed chest. High risk high reward, in theory anyway as its barely a risk as it is now. It certainly isn't "broken"

  • @confusedgamer99 haven't put one up there yet, will you actually see a waterfall? That'd be funny lol

  • @namekninja dude I'm gold hoarder level 49. I see them once or twice a day when solo. I just cash in immediately. You're like never further than 10 squares from an outpost. It cries once for my typical voyage to the market. Stop trying to have multiple and just cash in.

  • Where's it's always been a problem to carry on board, I've always been able to bring it to port. My only complaint is that it's not worth that much, and I've asked that its value be raised some.

It also cries intermittently, not all the time.
