Add controller dead zone options

  • Of all the things that happen in game this little one grinds my gears. With no input my pirate starts looking up. It ruins my ship repairs, my carefully aimed cannon shots, and it's a general nuisance otherwise. Doesn't matter my sensitivity setting, my pirate keeps turning eyes to the sky. We need a dead zone adjustment option to fix this issue. Happens on both of my controllers BTW.

  • While I agree there should be some more customization options for controllers, this sounds like it could be an issue with your controller(s) itself. All 3 of my controllers don’t do this at all.

  • @geeksquadmaster don't know if it helps, but did you update your controller?

  • @schwammlgott I don't know why that made me laugh, I remember when controllers were just controllers and didn't need updates.

  • @ve111a the world doesn't stand still...

  • @geeksquadmaster @daddy-sanctus Yeah after a while the springs or clips in the thumpsticks start to slack and they tend to 'travel' much easier. You could take it apart but they're quite fiddly to put back and sometime you can accidentally break them. I've just bought a new one after 2yrs because the rubber grip at the back was falling off and I noticed that the thumbsticks were traveling on that one as well. I assure you its nothing to do with the game. Also dust and grime can build up over time and this also can affect a controllers responsiveness.

  • Every game should have dead zone controls, that's just lazy.

Unless it's because MS figures they can sell more controllers by making your worn out one tedious to use, I guess.

  • Console always have a default 20% deadzone on the sticks, it is built into the operating system. When a stick starts to drift, it is time to either replace the pots or the controller.

  • @schwammlgott I'll try it out later tonight. Along with some of the other suggestions mentioned. It does the same thing on both my controllers, and one is newer than the other. See if I can fix it otherwise, but I still believe dead zone adjustment should be a thing. Just like I believe the left/right D-pad buttons souls be mappable for equipment or something.

  • @rk1-turbulence
Not sure about that. I can get an xbox controller repaired "no matter the damage" for $35 Aus
Much cheaper than $80/$100 for a new one

  • @geeksquadmaster the thing with the D-Pad is already in the game, since launch...go to controller-settings in the game and scroll all the way down
