I think it would actually lose its novelty fairly quick for people who've played for a while, but I think it might be a cool thing for new players who are first exploring the map. I can see them anchoring, wondering why the place is covered with rocks and strange plants...maybe a few birds, then maybe after a few minutes or a half hour of walking and running around, maybe they find the critters blow hole or ear, and the minute they step inside the thing starts to submerge, meaning the whole islands starts sinking :)

@crackerjackx13 wow wow wow wow!! i love this. my suggestion: what if this island is like a skeleton fort. but instead of a skull. there's a giant swarm of seagulls flying around it. and if you're far away. a small group of seagulls might fly over your ship in the direction of this 'island'. it'll be on the surface for between 20 minutes and an hour. hidden chests and skulls and trading items everywhere. trying to loot the island as fast as possible. you need to have someone on the ship. cause the island is always on the move. you can also find maps lying on the ground to find burried chests. a bounty map with a riddle, hinting at a location. where you need to play a certain song with a different amount of people with specific instruments (if more people are needed the skeleton crew appearing will be stronger). cages can be found in big stacks. and ghostly animals can be found across the island. not making any sounds until you spot them. a small cave system with a giant skeleton at the bottom which can be fought to unlock new cosmetics. my ideas are endless!
i could type more. but i'm in school. so i don't have time to write all this.

We're turtle island bound.
@crackerjackx13 yeah, imagine you don't know it's a giant turtle, and imagine it looks ALMOST (though not quite) any other island, and you're exploring what you think are damp caves. And you go deep to find skeletons, only you discover that they're the remains of digested pirates! :)
And the water table starts to mysteriously rise, and for some reason the ground is rolling. That's when you start to run for your ship, only it's way off in the distance (unless like Dr Peter Tezla said) you left someone behind to guard and man her, and she's trying to keep pace with your newly discovered living island.
How about there's a village on one island that worships the giant turtle as a god, and can summon it every few game days or something. Maybe you have to feed it massive amounts of fish or something as a quest to keep it from destroying something or menacing ships. I don't know :)

Could appear or disappear out of no where, or maybe it submerges from under the water and pops up because its on the back of a sea animal (Turtle, Crab, Fish, etc) then sinks after timer or item is grabbed, earthquakes happen on the island when its about to move or goes back underwater.
Could be a Event that Occurs, a Rainbow will indicate where it is or some other Indicator( Example - skull in the sky for Skull forts). What are some of the community Ideas for this????!!
I think why not? It's perfect, and fits the theme of the game. ::3

@kingkobra1984 depends on who you ask sir, there are those that actually beleive this all over the world because it is in there history and native storys.
