Where is the Community Manager(s)?

  • So quik question Rare, i feel that a lot of the mess on this forum.
Whould be avoided if you where to engage with your community a bit more.

I have never come across a forum like this with no clear community manager(s).

Also when i tag you @Rare-Employee you never even bother to answer.
I get answering all posts is not realistic, but you atleast make a effort.

    Cheers!

  • @cutlass-pain Yar! Well said but poorly written!

  • @my-dirty-muffin Well he be a pirate after all!!

  • @cutlass-pain I've seen replies from the admins, especially to state their official stances on things when specific questions are raised. The issue right now is that there are 100 poorly written posts on the exact same subjects that quickly devolve into spitting matches between opposite sides.

  • @papasohan There wouldn't be a bunch of the same topics if they wrote back to address them...

  • @cutlass-pain Well I think they are not answering because at least 90% of the posts are useless... add 4 man sloops, that sucks, this I don't like, add this feature, etc.
Probably they read almost everything but answer only in the right post ;)

  • @cutlass-pain Ahoy there matey!

The @ Rare Employee tag has been disabled for some time now, due to mis/over use, so don't be disheartened by not hearing a response.

In terms of the community manager, @khaleesibot is the pirate in charge around here so she may be able to answer your question more directly than I can.

  • @papasohan yeah totally agree there. Personally i feel like at least in the feedback suggestions area there should be a new rule where you submit your idea directly at the Devs/Mods/Rare and you shouldn't reply to other players posts anyone who repeatedly violates this should be removed because most of the time it just devolves into petty name calling or salty interactions and many of the moderators don't get the chance to reply because they're moderating all these hostile interactions between players.

  • @cutlass-pain Nothing would be solved.

The CMs wouldnt come here and tell you what you are wanting to hear.

They would say "our developers are working on it and will have news to share soon". All this would do is rustle your jim jams and make you bash them. There would be no point at all.

  • @my-dirty-muffin They have already at least partially addressed almost all of the questions I see. And a lot of them they have said they plan on making an official statement on (i.e. content roadmap). Can't be helped that people haven't read all the posts that already have these questions answered or the updates that have been put out by the devs or are too impatient to wait for that official response.

  • @My-Dirty-Muffin It may be porely written but its done in the best intention.

    @Gunny21 Aye i be a pirate. Cheers!

@PapaSohan Yes they answerd some but if they where to just drop in the feedback thread, you know there are some good threads. and say something like
Your idea has been added to the feedback list

Or just join in the discusions a bit.
Show some real love for the community, hard at the moment am sure. But it has to begin at Rare at this point.

@Altair920 Then what is the "right" post i seen a lot of constructive healthy discussions on here to.
They should join them acknowledge them it dose so much for the community.

@Skyewauker It depends on the CM`s i have seen some turn the tide in my time. Because they had been and where active and therefor had the respect and trust of the community.

  • @cutlass-pain Actually they tried addressing everyone's individual posts by setting up the mega threads, which generally contained Rare's answers to questions, and their acknowledgement of the feedback provided. But people were'nt happy about mega threads, so it seems they've stopped with that, or have simply gathered all the feedback they can handle for now.

  • @cutlass-pain In one or two posts ok, but there are at least five posts about 4 man sloops, all helpfull? I don't think

  • @papasohan Yes those huge post are just a mess.
They could try something else, have a monthly or biweekly Q&A Live Stream.

Have community drop questions all Rare needs to do then is show up. With some staff that can answer the questions.

It dose not take much couple of hours every other week on twitch or what not.

EDIT: Am sure some veterans here would "die" to be CM with a direct line to Rare. Am sure some even do it for free.

  • @papasohan This pretty much. The feedback forums are just an echo chamber at this point. The same idea(s) posted 100 different ways. There really is no point at all. They have gathered everything they can for now.

  • @altair920 Not at all a good community manager whould. see the second and third thread, and
    A: Merge them,
B: Link to respons in first thread. Post same reply in the two new threads and close\ lock them.

  • @cutlass-pain Yea, I guess people posting here really need to be lead around by the nose... just like they are expecting the game to do. The minute they post redirecting someone, its going to be "waaaaaaaaaah why are you not responding to meeeeeeeeee".

    Its a joke.

  • @Skyewauker Not at all but if there is some managing of the community everyone benefits.

Way are you so hostile mate?

Am only trying to have a discussion no need to be rude.

  • @cutlass-pain The current software, unfortunately, doesn't allow for easy/attractive merging of topics...

In the olden days, we would redirect to well-established topics but the big tidal wave of users and new posts has unfortunately not been a smooth ride. A massive forum clean up before the new influx did not help either as a lot of the well established golden topics have gone.

  • @cutlass-pain Im not being rude. Im telling the truth. CMs arent going to supply you with the answers you want. It would be an utter waste of time for them to come here just to tell us that news is coming soon. They can be diplomats, but thats bout it. They are going to tell us what they are allowed to. Seeing how we have already been told that they are going to release a video this week, there is nothing CMs can add that we dont already know.

They aren't going to come here and tell us / show us the road map. In turn this would get them berated. Its a no-win situation.

  • @musicmee I see that is unfortunate yes a lot of users will do that.
That is way i think some CM`s is a good idea.

  • I'm more concerned with the rampant emergence of toxic individuals that aren't being addressed like they use to. Mayhaps they need a few more deckhands?

  • @skyewauker Am not going to get into a argument with you, but i do not think you have met many CM`s before.

And no they can`t tell you everything but as a @Rare-Employee they know something.
And then being a active part of the community is effective and helpful on all fronts.

That is my experience, and 2 cents anyways.

  • @cutlass-pain As I said, only on good quality posts. Since most of the posts are more complaints than anything else, it is useless to even waste time

  • @altair920 I am not sure i agree, since if a CM\ Mod \ @Rare-Employee drops in and say we have noted the feedback from the community like they did with death tax, and we get calm sea`s.

But agree that there is a lot of trash posts that has no merit for reply.
But there are more then a few that also do.

That will also set a precedence that quality post with respectful discussion do get the recognition they deserve.

Its a snowball effect it gets exponentially better when done.
Look at the Unreal Engine forum thats a true community in every sence of the word.

I may be spoiled coming from there and game development but it works.

  • @cutlass-pain No no there are some post that deserve some recognition obviously. In this I agree with you
