I only want to play with players that have a microphone

  • This crossplay feature sucks. Most players are not playing with a microphone and it's impossible to get things done without it. This game is unplayable with randoms because communication is the key to everything in this game. You should be able to join servers that are "mic only". And if you don't speak every 10 minutes, you get kicked automaticly.

  • You are clearly a child.

  • Yes please! I'ts frustrating to try to communicate when some people don't have a microphone, and as you said it's a huge part of any teambased game to be able to communicate in-game with random players

  • @jelle-mees There's a "look for a group" feature on Xbox One and on the Xbox app on PC, in which you can search or create a "mic required" group for the game you want.

I'd be very curious to know what your point is.

  • I consistently roll with a crew of 3 and leave the 4th spot open for a friend to join later. About 9 times out of 10, you can bet your a**e we get a "PUG," who never has a mic, but B-lines for the wheel.

Please people.. if you go into matchmaking without a mic and join a pre-made crew, then you're pretty much relegated to sails, cannon, repairs, and anchor duty. Touching the wheel or map is the fastest way to the brig.

Please people.. if you go into matchmaking without a mic and join an organized crew, then you're pretty much relegated to sails, cannon, repairs, and anchor duty. Touching the wheel or map is the fastest way to the brig.

Please bare in mind that if your using the xbox party chat system that stops people hearing you on proximity chat and I think you cannot hear them too not 100% on last part but I think that's the case.

  • I prefer mic as well, but I played on a sloop with a rando yesterday and we only used in game chat. He was a great crewmate as we plundered a lot of loot and fought a couple ships.

Correct, my crew is almost exclusively PC players, so we'd rather be on Discord and have push-to-talk enabled for SoT. We always greet the "PUG" to determine if they have a mic using push-to-talk and text chat. Not once have we encountered a "PUG" with a mic. Probably dozens up dozens of them, no one ever has a mic.

  • There definitely should be more matchmaking options built into this game.

    • Server region
    • Only players with mics
    • Private crew (So no one match makes in if someone drops out)
  • I was in a random 4 man galleon crew last night and none of us used a mic but we were totally organised and had a good session.

The in game communication system is surprisingly capable once you know how to use it.

Smart players just know what to do on a ship or under stress. They don't need to have a discussion about it. They just do it.

If you absolutely cannot get by without a mic then you probably aren't that apt of a communicator/player in the first place.

Complex plans or exceptional activities, sure, a mic helps. But to play the vast majority of the game a mic is not the be all and end all. You need capable players first and foremost.

And there are an overwhelming number of incapable/annoying players who use a mic.

So it's not all one way. In my experience.
