F key for more options on the wheel still hardwired?

  • So will the F key still be hardwired and unbindable for more when the wheel is open on launch? As a left hander who is not using WASD it is really a pain when game developers only makes a portion of the keys you use ingame rebindable while others arent, in certain games its even been game breaking.

    Sniper ghost warrior 3 for example, where strafing left (H)sent me to the help menu. I refunded and mentioned this in my review, muuuuch later they answered my review and said they had spent lots of time developing this game and made lots of updates and asked me to try again and play some more. I googled and found a 2 days old post saying H was still hardwired to the help menu.

    I provide this example just to show how depressing things can actually be. Hardwired keybinds that cant be changed should be a huge no no for any serious developer.

    For launch, it will stay that way since the team ran out of time... but in a future release who knows ;)

    Yeah I'd still like to do this we just ran out of time for launch. I'll be sure it remains on our roadmap at some point for the future, just the way the underlying code works for interact / disengage makes it a bit more complicated.

  • @ohrstrom Yeah, the chat and emote wheels really need work in general.

  • @musicmee I still think for something as basic as keybindings on an AAA game they have been developing for years "we didnt have time" is really sad to hear. But we lefties are fairly used to be screwed over by the gaming community in various ways by now.

  • @ohrstrom I know @teddy-25 and crew will have your back... they obviously hardcoded some functions that were just too tricky to roll back in time...

    Hopefully you lefties will get the recognition you deserve soon!

  • @ohrstrom You can always use some macro to bind another key, alternatively Voice Attack is pretty good.

  • @ohrstrom Ahhh you might need to either log out and back in again to your forum... or clear your browser's cache if that doesn't fix it. Your badges aren't showing up on the forum.

  • @yoshirimitsu Not really a fan of macros that I have to change or activate/deactivate between games but Ill check out this Voice attack thing, thanks for the tip.

    According to this article from two days ago, "Rare put in the extra work to make sure that every button or key is completely rebindable (yes, all of them) on both PC and console.

  • @little-squash That sounds promising, maybe the more function can be rebound but not used for two things like suggested in that thread @Musicmee suggested. #hopeful.
