TL:DR in comments
I've been getting back into Sea of Thieves after a couple year hiatus. I'm remembering how amazing this game can be and the fact that it is simply the best Pirate experience on the market.
But here is the "however"... I've been hit with the reminder of how much Fear Of Missing Out is in this game...
Way back when, myself and many others have purchased this game for $60, and now more recently for $40 on steam. The amount of quality of life options locked behind a pay wall feels too high.
One example I can think of right now is not being able to make your character, but then forcing people to pay money if they decide later that their Pirate isn't to their liking feels gross.
I also understand that it's a live service game, but having this much stuff you can just miss out on by not playing during a short period is too much in my opinion.
The Bilge Rate Weekenders aren't Weekenders, they feel like Once In a Blue Moon-enders. I can't find anywhere in the game to find upcoming events, it simply says "No Events Currently"
So I need to stop playing the game itself to go find forums or online posts on when events did happen. And no info on when they will happen again. I could be missing where they are, but if that's true then that in it's self is a problem in visibility.
Then while looking into the In Game Menus, I find the seasons deeds. 2 of the 4 deeds for Act Two I simply cannot do because they needed to be done during a weekender. I don't know when the next weekender is, and by looking online people seem to be saying that there wont be another during this current season. So I cannot do the tasks given to me because I just jumped back into Sea Of Thieves after a long while. That feels very un-friendly and like the game doesn't respect my time.
