Chest of Fortune is kind of Underwhelming

  • I don’t see anyone talking about this, but does anyone else feel like the Chest of Fortune isn’t that exciting?

It’s worth 20k, which is the same value as an orb you can get in 5–10 minutes from a skeleton encampment. The commendation set is an awesome reward outside of the gold, but you have to sell so many that any individual sell doesn’t feel that impactful.

I remember when people would spend hours tucking just for a Chest of Legend. It seems like that same chase is what they were going for with the Chest of Fortune. In my opinion, it falls flat of being that “legendary piece of treasure” you really want to get — or defend at all costs. And I think it would benefit the sandbox if that was the reality.

To accomplish that, I think the Chest of Fortune should be the main reward and primary source of gold for whatever world event it appears in. Possibly 50k, considering the current economy. The number required for each commendation could also be lowered so that each sell feels like an achievement and like meaningful progress toward the next grade.

It might also be worth allowing it to be sold to almost any faction. That would give more players an incentive to go for it, even if they aren’t running a Reaper’s Bones or Gold Hoarders emissary.

  • Chest of Fortune isn’t that exciting

Besides the rewards and commendation. Once you got them the chest became like the chest of legends. That chest you Meh and either: Leave, sell or bury

Like all grand treasures. Once you start making it easy to get, it’s everywhere and no longer rare. It just another useless chest.

  • Gold only matters for a short time in your SoT lifetime; try to enjoy the game without needing nonstop gold inflation. Most treasure is worth 1k to 2k tops...
