the data rare seems to be ignoring? and most try hards as well? (oh no. doubloon talk again?!)

  • rare has data we dont have access to. so that would go a long way to factoring into this whole thing. but they seem to take the laziest approach to looking at data. look at everyones wallet. sort via highest to lowest. missing MAJOR key data points here. are those players active? when did they start playing? how many seasons did they complete? in the very least their data should be split into active and non active to get a better picture. but then also look at the % of active players who are new in each season. how many people are only on their 2nd-3rd season with sea of thieves? how many past season cosmetics did they miss? where are we even at with adding old season cosmetics back into the game? season10? i dunno... but keeping in mind eventually they intend all past season cosmetics to be available so this number will just continuously grow. but if you are new and you want to buy every item in the shops that has a doubloon cost.... i know for a lot of gamers and apparently developers math is scary. so sorry for all the big spooky numbers.

    • hair & beards - 25,200
    • clothes - 103,090
    • equipment - 38,365
    • weapons - 36,445
    • shipwright - 28,660

total of 231,760 doubloons needed if you were one to want to purchase all shop items.
+54,050 for the fomo doubloon reset items. (23.3% of the total cost of all current doubloon items)

i was going to post this list by item type but i figured a longer list would be harder to look at. so i totaled each catagory then combined them for the overall
    some maybe interesting notes.

    *hair styles at 25,200
    *jackets 20,140
    *hats - 17,265
    *cutlass 21,505

thats about 36.3% of over all doubloon cost being in 4 catagories hair kinda being the wildest one? but also of note even buying all those cutlasses isnt even half the price of this single doubloon fomo one. which i think we can all agree is the only real good looking cosmetic in the bunch though i dont think i would buy it even if i could afford it

i think i saw this suggestioned before but considering how many doubloon cosmetics there are already. and this fomo stuff. why not allow converting gold to doubloons at a much higher rate? i know right now with the wipe upcoming having it after the fact would defeat the purpose. but this update is doing nothing to solve the gold issue. so maybe even if its just for next month let us drain out gold stores to spend on doubloon stuff? i mean no reason not to let us turn all our gold into doubloons for this. then you deal with both currencies. especially since you said farming for the doubloons now doesnt matter you will give everyone the fomo cosmetics as long as they played during the month. it will just be a passive over time award or something when they reach some arbitrary doubloon goal you are keeping hidden from us. making it fomo but then also saying you will grandfather it in to people who played during the period but couldnt afford it.. i mean heck... you could even say dont sell these for doubloons at all then? throw a high gold price tag on them instead? at least we can easily farm gold. and... seriously revaluate these shops the resolute sails are new additions and 24,500 gold each? i could see those being 3000 doubloon items. they certainly hold more value than a 700 doubloon hair cut

  • I doubt even 1% of the playerbase has 50k Doubloons.
    It's really wild.
But then.. I am reminded of this sentence they recently spoke into existence on their latest ''podcast'' video which all makes sense:

"... and then we kind of did nothing for several years and it kind of got a little bit out of control."

They just don't know what they are doing half the time, and that's been apparent for several years now. Cheers!
