When a keybind is pressed, your Pirate performs a brief kick animation with a small windup. Enemy Pirates hit by this kick take no damage, but are knocked back slightly and slowed for less than half a second. Players cannot be knocked off the ladder by this kick for obvious balancing reasons. Two kicks colliding results in a "neutral reset" with neither player having an advantage, making kick a viable defense against kick.
I think this would be a simple defensive addition both gun and sword users. Ranged users can put small distance between aggressive Sword players, while Sword players can throw the aim of Ranged players off with a kick thrown in.
