Suggestion to prevent people using external software to exploit the armory in order to shoot their gun at an unprecedented speed (aka: machinegunning)

    For a while now people using external software have been able to use the armory in order to shoot much faster then normaly possible, an exploit especialy deadly when coupled with aimbot. To my understanding iligitimate players are exploiting the armory by rapidly (using scripts) changing their loadout (changing weapon or just the skin of a same weapon) wich "resets" the state of their weapon virtualy instantly reloading said weapons. If this wasnt clear here is an exemple of a scenario (from my understanding): iligitimate player stand near armory - shoots sniper - open armory - changes sniper skin - exit armory - shoot again... [Mod edit]

    Now here is my suggestion. to prevent iligitimate player from exploiting the armory there could be a hard delay implemented to switching weapon with the armory such as having to perform the reload animation. I understand that such a measure could impact negativly legitimate player but I think only in very edges cases and the benefit of not having to deal with "machinegunning" greatly outwheights this minor inconvinience.

  • Having to reload as soon as you pull the gun out also means that in a situation where someone is going to board you and you need to change weapons, you lose valuable time. I think there should be a delay in the sense of the armoury not being usable for like 1.5 seconds after you leave it. That would stop machine gunning from being effective and I can't really see a scenario where a legitimate player needs to use their armoury more than once every 1.5 seconds.

    1.5 s still is much faster then having to wait 4s for sniper to reload also with your solution they would be able to shoot 2 snipes in quick succession then wait 1.5s shoot again wich would just nerf machinegun without removing it alltogether.

    I did not think about the fact that you might want to change weapon if you get boarded. But I think if u had to reload even if you changed both your weapon it will still be very managable.

  • @cpt-darg0ld 1.5 seconds was a placeholder number, I can see other numbers making sense. There is rarely ever a reason to go into your armoury more often than once every 4 seconds so 4 seconds could be the number to fully eliminate machine gunning. I think that forcing the guns to be unloaded will always put the player being boarded at too much of a disadvantage. The person coming back from the ferry doesn't have to reload, all his guns are reloaded for him.
