Kraken update

  • Was hoping to get an update for the Kraken during the Hunter Call update but alas that didn't happen. Nevertheless, the Kraken needs to be changed. It feels more like an inconvenience than a challenge. It should be par (or harder) with an Ancient Meg. So here are my ideas.

    1. Make the Kraken a beast that spawns like the Ancient Megs. Hunters Call reps can see them on their map once they reach rank 5. You can still stumble upon it randomly. The pink fin of its head can be seen breaching the surface.

    2. Update existing moves as well as adding new ones.

    For example when a kraken uses its tentacles to suck a player up it also can suck up any loot/tools on the top deck of the boat. Chests, spears, crates, cannon of rage etc.

    Or when the players ship fills with water it's dark ink water making it impossible to see holes or supply crates. If we get boiling water in our ship around a volcano then why not ink water around a kraken.

    1. As for new moves maybe add a rock throwing ability that's an instant kill on impact and does massive damage to ship

    2. Also sirens worship kraken as gods so maybe throw in a few sirens in the water shooting trident at you to aid the Kraken.

    3. Finally the obvious one is a bigger loot pool again on par with an Ancient Meg.

    Kind of already does. But lore wise, the hunters only know how to track the Megs. The kraken is a monster that can travel faster under the sea and could possibly defeat the megs solo.

  • Lore wise they may defeat Megs but gameplay suggests otherwise lol

  • Sucking loot off the deck would make me quit rather than fight it. I'm not joking. Gathering loot is one of the slowest parts of dealing with a kraken because its so spread out. If it took loot off my deck and spread it out, I would just alt f4 and leave it there. That would be beyond stupid, so pointless that adding it would actively harm the playerbase.

    The kraken needs to be harder, for sure, but if you make it as hard as an ancient meg, people will just stop doing it again. The reason the kraken is so nerfed now is because it was too hard, and that made players stop doing the encounter. Kraken used to mean something, and now it's barely more than an inconvenience.

    Making it harder to see the holes would make it feel as though losing was something out side of our control. In a game, that is the LAST thing you want to do. If a person loses, they have to know that they were the reason, not the game having something broken that makes you unable to play it effectively.

    Just remove non coral shrine sirens all together ngl. The only place they do anything is coral shrines, anywhere else you can literally just swim away from them and they can't hurt you.

  • Well what you could do is make your loot potential ammo for the Kraken to use. The Kraken sucks the loot and throws it back on to the ship. The loot can do top deck damage (mast, wheel, and capstan) as well as insta kill the player. BUT the loot is back on your boat.

    I don't really see the black water as a problem. Just bucket before you fix holes. Also the game throws a ton of bull at you that's beyond your control. I can't tell you how many times I'm in a battle with another player ship and a skelly ship spawns on me, or a megalodon, or a kraken, or hell all three. And if I sink I dont get that mad its just part of the game because if it weren't for things like that the game would be way too easy.

    Also you could just make it where you can see if you use your lantern. Stuff like that.
