Make The Plunder Pass More of a Grind

  • Currently, you can finish the passes in under a week, this leaves like 12 weeks remaining to do nothing relating to the pass, it's quite annoying finishing something in very very short time - same with the new voyages.

  • Hahaha...aaahh..yeah.
Sadly, the playerbase has made there voice heard. "Grinding in 2025 is thing of the past. We dont have time to grind these digital goods"
Make the Meg fights easier, Kraken Easier, Forts less stressful, give us better ways to get Gold/Rep.

And by the end of things...All is done, nothing worth chewing but going out and messing with other players and getting called "Toxic" because I am now Bored and need to create entertainment, since the salty pirates made it this way.

  • I like the pace of the Plunder Pass as it is. As a casual player, the Plunder Pass option brings me back to this game more than anything else and feel like I'm making progress at something instead of doing boring almost impossible grinds. Its satisfying as is. And yes, I feel I have more time than I need to gain 100 levels but so what. Not everything in this game needs to be a loooong grind.

BUT.....it would be nice if they added 100 more levels.

  • @burnbacon not the salty pirates, but those who actually have lives, jobs and stuff.

  • @blazebeard2313

Not true. Everyone I know who works just as long as I and have kids who play with them randomly. Never complain about this.
After all, it’s just digital junk.

It’s the younger ones who want everything handed out quick and fast.

I got lvl 50 in an hour by fishing/cooking from an outpost. It that bad.

  • I tend to finish the plunder pass pretty quickly, but without fail a few days before the end of the season there will be someone asking the best way to get their last few levels.

Make the pass open ended. Some gold every 10 levels 110,120 etc. Some doubloons every 100 levels 200,300 etc. Then maybe a small amout of ancient coins at 1000 and 2000 etc. I think progression is already weighted towards earlier levels so keep that. Each level should be harder than the previous.

Certain easily exploited activities could be nerfed after lvl 100.

  • It's weird to me that people request that a game increase the amount of time they have to interact with it. If you want to play it more, do that. If they want to reward players for playing beyond 100 with some extra gold or whatever, sure.

But don't request that a grind be increased because there is no good reason to do that. The Season Renown track is good as is and pretty fair to a large number of the playerbase. It doesn't need to be made worse.

  • @d3adst1ck If you can complete something in very little time, there's no sense of accomplishment.

  • @kianonboard The season track is not an accomplishment. It's a reward for participating in the season.

If you want accomplishments, check the commendation and achievement lists. Tons of overly repetitive grinds to do there.

  • @d3adst1ck Right.. but if players can complete it in 3 days or less, it kills any sense of value for rewards, and if an entire season can be finished in a weekend worth, what's the point? Season passes are meant to be progressive (not too long or too short), it makes them less meaningful..

The value of the rewards come from the time limited nature between the end of the season and when they appear in the outpost stores. How is this value changed if you increase the time to complete from 3 days (which is done by nearly unhealthy levels of overplaying) to 30 days given that you have 90 days to complete the entire thing and that you can just buy it in the outpost store later anyways (with the exception of 3-4 items and a title).

It doesn't, and therefore making the pass "harder" is a pointless change.

  • Yea, Seasons don't need to be more of a grind. I always got the impression that Seasons were designed with the very casual players (likely the majority of the player base) in mind as these are the folks who felt the most sting from not making good progression under the base game design (the folks who get real mad that they can lose all their work to a sink). With the Season Pass they will still wind up with something for their effort - some gold, Dubloons, and some cosmetics. So even if they really struggle to progress through the actual core content of the game they don't feel like they are just left with nothing.

The grinds exist in the Commendations and Achievements as noted above. In this way, SoT can cater to more styles of player without people having to feel like they are getting nowhere. Those of us who have no problem with progress can scratch itches for grinds if we want them through other means. Let the casuals have their meal too.

That's entirely dependent on the players though. I assume if you're cracking the entire Plunder Pass out in a few days time, you're probably either a very experienced player or you have a lot of time to dedicate to the game (most likely both, though). So that means you're NOT the Average player. And things like progression pace shouldn't be balanced around how you (or me either, because I'm the same way) play the game.

  • I still run into people who get to like level 70 on the pass by the last week of the season. For those who play a lot, it's fast. For casual players, it's slow.
