Has anyone else had issues with outcomes when reporting cheaters?

  • Let me know if this is the wrong place to post this, this isn't feedback or a request for help, just a discussion to see if anyone's had similar experiences?

I sent a report to rare 3 days ago with clips to back it up, showing the names of the users, including directly above there in game character.

To be fair, while technically obvious, only ONE of the clips had actual clear proof of cheating , the rest, while "obvious" in a technical sense, aren't the 100 percent proof needed for a ban, but were meant to add cumulative weight.

Anyway after sending the report i got told i wouldn't know the outcome once it was passed to the security team as it's an "internal matter" (even though they told me in the past of an an outcome that was handed to the security team) so i don't get that, however one of the cheaters, in response to a message i sent him asking about his cheating days ago, messaged me back today, not only admitting to cheating but showing he's still in the game, unbanned. This cheater has 50 days in game and advanced cosmetics such as obsidian bones, his friend also boasted about how there cheats where undetectable and that's even in one of the clips i sent.

Has anyone else had this type of thing? i feel like the last thing the game needs in this state is cheaters being allowed to get away even when they have substantial time in game. This particular cheated also admitted to not always using his cheats, just when he felt like it.

Make sense, you dont need to know. Just move on

and that right here is a "Broken Code" Keep everything On the Seas. You msging a cheater...for purposes just to ask a question or Gloat later once they get banned? Dont do that.

  • @burnbacon Wow immediately hostile right of the bat... okay.

"Make sense, you dont need to know. Just move on" A. My issue obviously is with the contradiction: that a previous report sent i WASNT told that it was internal policy to not tell me and WAS told, but then, half a week later, im told something completely different.

And next: "and that right here is a "Broken Code"" No it isn't messaging someone on xbox is not braking any code, unless it's insulting which it wasn't, you assumed i was "gloating" we were actually asking how they got away with cheats for so long.

"Don't do that" Why? what's wrong with it? The platform exists to message people, unless it's insulting, which i was not, yes i was asking about the cheats, so? That part of the pirate code is purely to prevent people from being toxic and insulting players after an event in the game has passed, i was not being toxic nor insulting.

  • It's honestly best just to do what you did. Record, report, and move on. You don't know what goes on behind the scenes with what Rare does with your proof. The moment I see a cheater, I stick around to get evidence, I clip it, then log out to a different server. Don't give them the attention they're after, or inform them it was you who reported them. In the past, players have been stalked and harassed by others using cheats. Just record, report, and move on.

  • @europa4033 You're right of course, i think i was just extra peeved seeing them having been cheating so long term and having gotten away with it, i, like most of us in pvp, have dealt with cheaters constantly this past year and a half, and keep seeing rare comment about how they're going to "tackle it" with limited or no success, so seeing not just more cheaters, but ones that have gotten away with it on primary accounts was just very disheartening.

I totally get that, I do know they react on reports of language used rather quickly. It could be they don't ban them right away, but do them in waves - perhaps waiting to find out how they do it / what they use, so they can catch other people doing it as well.

  • @lem0n-curry That's an excellent point, i hadn't considered that. It's funny because at 50 days in game i wouldn't even want them to necessarily be perma banned, because that's 1000 hours they'd loose which is really rough, i actually think rare is way to harsh with there perma bans in some cases, just a strong "final" warning and a yellow beard would be fitting i think for them. But i hadn't considered they may be taking it deeper, it's always good to hear a level head :)

  • Had several reports come back with the dreaded you won’t find out if your report was actioned or not and felt like giving up. As frustrating as it is, it’s worth reporting regardless and just ignoring the ticket once it’s raised unless they ask for further evidence.
