There should be a Compensation Policy for this game

  • I think that this game could benefit from a compensation policy as features are added in patches to this game and it sometimes makes voyages and hourglass and other parts unplayable. Players do not have a large amount of time to play this game and I think players would be more understanding of things breaking if they could still be rewarded for their time spent trying to play as they love the game.

Moderators and support can then link to the webpage containing the detailing the compensation policy when asked too.

The compensation policy I have thought of is quite simple:

    • If a feature does not work for 24 hours, players can receive the average rate of gold, reputation and doubloons for each day the feature was not working
    • All players are given an amount as they may have wanted to play with that feature, but they chose not to. Only players who tried to interact with the broken feature are compensated more
    • This compensation window only lasts until the feature is permanently disabled, after this point no new players are entitled to this
    • Returning players may be confused as to why they have received rewards, so the policy page should also have historical information detailing what compensation was rewarded for a broken feature

I bring this up as I have noticed that the 5 levels of hourglass rewarded to each faction previously are still being rewarded to players, even when they are resetting their pirate and I just think there is a better way of managing this.

Would you like to speak with the manager?

  • There's some good events on at the moment that would make you easy gold.

  • No, you should not be compensated for a video game. Bloody hell.

  • Downvote.

If people can't understand that things break (not just games) and require time to be fixed, they don't need a reward or compensation.

What they need is to grow the hell up, and stop being entitled crybabies.

To get out of the basement, and touch some grass. Or you know, play something else while waiting for a fix. So many options.

  • compensation policy

Oh geez. So pretty much a lot of games should do this right?
As you said. Not everyone has the time to play, so. Why would you be compensated for time you may or may not play for?

I think most people that want these compensations are really just that as you explained, but in my case I would say they are just too chronically online and live life on there more than in real life.

LOOK I get it a broken state of a game isn't an enjoyable experience and dare I saw a waste of time when you have been hyped to hop on all day with friends just to find out that one thing you want to do isn't available.
    Total mood killer...

But I'd rather not be compensated than be laughed at and spat on my face with a measly 10k gold log in bonus as a ''sorry''. That to me is more insulting than just putting their heads down and getting on with fixing the issues.
The problem with compensation is that it will never be enough for someone, unless they go overboard and give 5 Mil to everyone.

  • @tesiccl Agreed, we should have a downvote button for posts such as this.

  • You forget @UnBlinkingMass7 that it's their game. I played a game called City of Heroes for 7yrs before NCSoft decided to pull the plug, without discussion, or a vote. If a feature isn't working, I'm pretty sure they know about it and are working to fix it. They don't owe you gold, rep, or doubloons, and it's up to them what, if any, "compensation" they choose to give. Wait until it's fixed, play another game, or do something else.
