Dear sea of theives developers. I am an og player and I love sea of theives. I’ve played hourglass a lot as I am a big fan of pvp however it has come to my attention that there are several problems which i would like to address. There has been occasions where I’ve played, dived and arrived in the devils roar where I’ve been hit by a volcanic rock and instantly been at a disadvantage. Today i played aswell thinking things would be different however as I had a fair fight against the enemy ship, flamehearts ship arrived out of nowhere and bombarded us. Again we were at a disadvantage. Hourglass is supposed to be a fair pvp mode and it has unfortunately failed my expectations. I love sea of thieves however when things like this happens I feel like the mode hourglass losses its purpose. When arena was around it was atleast fair for everyone, even though it may not have been popular. I have video proof of both occasions and I could send you them if you’d like. I hope you adress these issues as I am sad and disappointed where this game is heading.

We as in, just you or both ships. Because I don’t see this as disadvantage unless it was just one sided.
Volcanos don’t take sides so that just silly. Flameheart ship. Was it npc or third part ship? Think you need to rethink

I understand your point, but updates like this wont happen.
Rare said it themselves that hourglass is part of the normal adventure servers and everything that happens in a fight, be it other playerships 3rd partying, skellyships, megs or volcanos, are intended risks, that can happen at random.
Things like cursed cannonballs are also hated among the hourglass community, but Rare made it clear that they are fair game.While you and i might not agree with Rare on certain points, that most likely wouldnt change anything about it, as these situations you mentioned dont happen very often and most players dont care.
Maybe 5% out of all my hourglass fights have ended because of this randomness and about half of that wasnt in my favour.I hope youll be able to look over these situations and keep playing hourglass.
Even if you dont, Sonicbob confirmed that there are plans for other Hourglass modes in the future, when they have cheaters under controll.
Maybe those will be better for you when they release someday.@burnbacon Yeah, imo I think that hourglass is more fun when there is interesting stuff in the circle; you can use it to your advantage.
I get frustrated with HG a lot, but the main problem is getting matchmade against lv1000 players who wreck you easily.I think that having random stuff interfering can help prevent the matches from getting super long. As is the current way of HG to run like mad when you take 2 cannonballs to rear deck.

The volcano incident happened just as I spawned in, making me and my crew go to the ferryman. Had a millisecond to look around before the volcanic rock hit our ship. Wouldn’t call that fun but hey you do you.As for the other occasion, the ship was ai steered and yes absolutely both my ship and the enemy ship was at a disadvantage however as the ship approached our ship first it ultimately ended in the ai ship and our enemy ship tag teaming us. I know the ai can’t tag team but as the opponent you can strategically place yourself in a position where your ship is not in range of the ai ship but in range of our ship.
I hate it and I agree to disagree on your point however I would really love for two types of hourglass modes to be introduced. One where you don’t have random occurrences and another where things like this could happen.
But a thing like this would only exist in a perfect world as I know this would probably split the pvp community in sea of theives which really isn’t that big to be honest.As this thread was months old and revived today, it will now be locked.
