You should be able to command the skeletons on the Burning Blade

  • Using lanterns or something you should be able to command the skeletons, like:

4 lanterns on the Blade, the left could be "attack" where the skeletons prioritize cannons over repairing. Second from the left could be "defend" where they prioritize repairing. Third could be "hold" where the Blade just goes in circles so you can do stuff on an island. Last could be "speed" where the skeletons control the sails to always be in the wind. And no lanterns are the current ai.

  • Rather have. If I’m at the helm and I use the chat wheel to say “raise sails”. They do that.

  • This sounds like an overly complicated way to make an otherwise already powerful ship even stronger for some reason. I think they should make the burning blade more relevant before they start changing its balance mechanics.

  • I'd rather have Rare implement that summoned skeletons can use cannons on your ship. It could be a good temporary bonus for solo sloopers. They will never be better than a real person, and they cannot board as well, but would at least somewhat help with solo slooping.

Only if balanced properly, that is.

  • Burning Blade is already incredibly strong, buffing it further isn't the way

  • @itz-majman it's a joke to sink it, even solo... you just can't treat it like fighting other ships. I don't have an issue with giving commands to skeletons.

  • @burnbacon That would be really nice, but only for solo sloopers, otherwise I think it would be too strong. ^^

  • It makes sense to me that we can turn the wheel and pull the ropes, because to the skeletons we are just one of the crew. it does not make sense that we could command the skeletons. Their captain is flameheart, they take orders from him.

That said, it would be cool if they would raise and lower sails the way BurnBacon suggested….

  • Honestly, the burning blade isn't that much of a threat I got a swabbie with less than a month that was able to take over it as a solo sloop.

Problem is the crew size differences and skill the burning blade is just a autoregen-autofire slightly bigger galleon it's all about being a nuisance to prevent it's repair and management.

I was able to help to almost sink a burning blade crewed by a brig with that swabbie unfortunately due to poor management on our part and 1 of their members being good at PvP we got sunk only for our allied solo sloop to finish sinking it after.

The sail management by skeletons would have to be tested, but it feels to me more like a QoL for sloops than an outright upgrade to it.

  • @captain-fob4141

If you go vs the skeletons when it's in "PvE" mode then of course it's not hard, barely harder than a skeleton-galleon. I'm talking when a crew is in command of it.

  • @itz-majman yes... even against a crew it's a joke. You just don't fight it like a normal player ship.

  • @captain-fob4141

Then you haven't fought anyone that knows what they are doing. BB is like a Galleon but acts like a Brig + you have all the skeletons that repairs for you

  • @itz-majman it's also the slowest ship with the most boarding points and easily exploitable blind spots. Beyond that, the skeleton crew are a non factor in CQC and only add fire density to long range cannon engagements.

Once you kill the skeletons it's just a matter of maneuver control to prevent the BB crew from doing anything against you. In a lot of ways, it's trivial to fight.
