The game is bloody gorgeous with HDR turned on. But the dark is ExtraDark, so I can see why people would avoid using HDR.
I, personally, love it. I wish more games had HDR settings like SoT; I'm using it in Mass Effect: Andromeda, and it's nowhere near as pretty.
Which is weird, since the game has a bigger development staff and it's set in outer space.
However Rare did it; I hope any future games will be as lovely.
@guildar9194 When HDR was first released for SoT, I didn't like it because it was too dark, but now that it has some better settings to adjust, I use it all the time.
@guildar9194 I primarily play on PC and my monitor doesn't support it but I do play safer seas (for Tall Tales or just commendation hunting) on my xboxSX over an OLED, HDR is a complete game changer it is stunning. Currently looking for a new monitor so might try and find one that supports HDR. Was thinking and OLED monitor but burn in is something that bothers me (I have extended play sessions at weekends).

(PC) I hate the HDR for SoT because it just makes everything more orange. So it doesn't feel like 'HDR'. And as I have an OLED monitor, my blacks are dark enough anyway. It makes the game look much more realistic in taverns, though. Because orange and dark is what I expect when the place is lit by candles. If it is changed like some are saying I will give it a second chance.
