Rather than a pirate, I play as a privateer, doing the missions for the various vendors. In pirate days privateers did similar missions. Their flags were typically some logo on a red background. Would it be possible to add that kind of flag to the game?

@stryker4827 would be cool cos I always play as a privateer. Shame about the red in the flag though. Not my colour. And I think there is far to much red in this game already.

What do you really mean or want. I am genuinely curious since I obsess over these details as well. When I Google Red Privateer flags, there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer, and most red flags leaned to "no quarter".
@stryker4827 pirates started with red flag, red flag was generally means that thers will be bloodshed or time to surrened passed up now there will be no mercy and was hoisted when ship they aproched refused surrender.
They operated under letter of marque, sometimes sell to enyone inblanco and they often resort to blant piracy acts.
So for RP purposes I would go like that eny other than Reaper emissary and swith it to some red flag (most accurate would be pure red one) on engage distance.
I had lot of fun doing that on merchant galleon :)
