New weapon/tool Boarding Axe

  • I have a great suggestion for a new weapon/ tool the Boarding Axe this weapon would be mostly useful when boarding enemy ships it would be able to plunder and damage enemy ships by putting additional holes in ships allowing for faster sinking and also cutting down sails and damaging the anchor and ship’s steering

    The attack will do 50 damage with a slow swing allowing for a 2 hit kill but the hit will be strong giving push back witch will allow fast acting enemies a small amount of time to retreat or recover before getting the second hit off

    pairing the Boarding Axe with a sniper, shotgun or throwing knife would be a great way for good and accurate players to secure a fast 2 hit kill after hitting enemy with the first Boarding Axe push back attack.

  • I just got a little smile of my face seeing this haha brings me back. Just cuz people have been talking about it since the beta. It’s a great idea don’t get me wrong. But it could also make tdm pretty op.

  • It has always sounded fun and chaotic, but I think it would add such an imbalance to the meta that they'll never do it.

    I think they only way this would work is if the ax was:

    • The only weapon you could hold in your inventory
    • It was super slow to both attack players and damage a ship
    • You can only equip it from your ship/you can't un-equip it on their ship

    Like if you are boarding you are just a wild man with an ax. If you can make it past the crew and start tearing up their ship then good on you, but you are essentially an easy target with a singular mission. Otherwise I think it would just become a terror. Honestly even with the conditions I thought of there are probably still plenty of things I didn't think of that would make it too strong.

    But man, just thinking about my pirate in his skirt cannon launching to another boat while I howl through the mic sounds so fun.

    You want to damage a ship? You do it from your own ship.
    You want to damage people? You do it with your weapons.

    Allowing a melee weapon that can both kill people & damage ships would be broken.
    Imagine being able to spawn camp while putting holes in a ship or destroying the mast/capstan/wheel; Literally 0 point in using cannons anymore.

    Just shoot yourself at the enemy ship & do every aspect of PvP combat with one weapon!

    Edit: Also, 50 damage a hit? 2 hit kills? Could it be anymore broken in melee combat?
    Just shotgun, then axe; Player is dead in less than 2 seconds, and now you can put holes in his ship without explosives or cannons.
    Strong knockback: Ok, so they did not die. But they were knocked off their own ship, and are stuck in the water until it sails far enough away to spawn a mermaid. Once again giving attackers time to make holes with their new axe.

    A melee 'Make holes' weapon would be broken, any way to you try to balance it.

    • Would you want one primarily for the novelty of a new weapon?

    Or

    • Would you want one just for the aesthetically pleasing look of wielding an axe?

    I wonder how many people would be happy with a set of Boarding Axe skins for the cutlass sold in the emporium. I mean sword lunges wouldn't visually make sense with an axe, but would anyone really care?

  • It can break game, but everything has balance. One hit 30 or 25 damage, 4 hits to kill player, slower attack than sword. Second attack (on sword is defence, knife aim) 10 damage push enemy on hit. Charge attack about 3-5 seconds to charge, 50-80 damage (developers will find balance) and have 10-20% to make small hole on ship and 40-60% to stuck 5-10 seconds to take it back. If hit player has no chance to make hole, need to charge again. Player have 1 axe and they need to take it back from where it stuck or take from ammo box.

  • @povilas120 Version 2 for charge attack 360°, 50 damage, can't damage ship.
