People spawn too close

  • My crew sank a gally at a athena fort just for it to spawn in spitting distance away, and when they sank us the same thing happened

  • If you can sink them once, you can do it again.

Distance doesnt matter. Someone can spawn 10 blocks away and still come back, it part of the pvpve experience. You sank them, now they know you can defend yourself and worthy of a fight.
It part of the Fight. Seems you lost round 2

But fret not, Safer Seas is coming.

Weird, snarky response that doesn't seem warranted.

@Pestbot Something definitely changed with the release of the Skull of Siren Song. I assume it's because they want ships to spawn back in closely to keep that event engaging and fresh. However, sometimes it seems to effect sinks that are not part of the event. At this point I don't think we know if this is by design for every sink, if it's only supposed to be for the Siren Song event, or if it's a bug across the board. Maybe someone else has heard details on it that I haven't heard. I suppose we will have to wait and see what the devs say in the (near) future. But I'm assuming it's (at least partly) by design.

Long story short, you aren't going crazy. Take this into account during your future voyages. Happy sailing!

  • @tangus-00 Based on what I've seen, if you have the voyage on your mast and not accepted, there seems to be a chance that people will spawn next to you the same as if you are both part of the voyage, especially if no one has picked up any pieces of the voyage yet. This is clearly not something that is part of the design, but the fact that this is now spilling over into regular adventure activities and not only as part of the voyage is a pretty big problem.

  • @burnbacon We are all immortal pirates with an infinite number of boats, lives, and solid starting supplies, and we are all attempting to accomplish tasks that take time to complete. Spawn distance is one of the few things that makes this game bearable and not a tedious seal clubbing slog. It absolutely matters.

Your last comment is flat out ridiculous. I can't remember a recent day where I didn't sink someone, either because I wanted their loot or they came after me, but I still hate close spawns. It means that sinking someone doesn't have any consequences at all and people can attack me every two or three minutes and I am in a gameplay loop where I am basically sinking them, collecting supplies, sinking them, collecting supplies, sinking them, collecting supplies, and not getting anything else done.

Safer Seas is for newer players to learn the game, not for experienced players to escape, and trying to use it as a club is pretty revelatory when it comes to your character.

    Pretty much this.

  • @burnbacon If they spawned ten blocks that would make sense, but they spawned in SWIMMING DISTANCE, the whole point of sinking a boat is that that fight is won, if they come back we had time to repair, get the loot on and be ready, we literally hadn't even made it to the fort yet, them spawning that close is ridiculous, on the Soss voyage i get it, but when you dont even have time to get ready for the fight there is no round two, thats just an easy win for them, something is seriously wrong if pvp centered people think that spawns like that are okay, i like pvp, enjoy it, but pvp only players seem to have this weird disconnect where the game has to be all fight all the time when it doesn't

  • @foambreaker im not even going to be on safer seas i dont have a problem with ship battles, i have a problem with a full repaired boat spawning at the island next door after being sunk when were not even on the Soss quest, when you get sunk that should be it, you have a chance to decide go back or dont, but it should take you time, you shouldn't be close enough to fire borders over from the island you spawn on, you shouldn't be able to get back to where you sunk in 30 seconds, there is a reason the game puts people that far away, its to avoid a loop where its just a constant fight over one island for two hours

  • @tangus-00 yea i know im not going crazy, hopefully they fix this clear bug soon, no reason a boat should spawn at an island next to where they sank, and absolutely no reason for a ship to spawn at a skeleton fort, i love that when you find a genuine bug though , if pvp only players love it there like "intended feature get good" but if it goes against them all i hear is "terrible game, never playing again" or if they fix an obvious bug its vice versa, yea its a pvpve game, but yall seem to miss the PVE part cause ive seen so many people against safer seas for the wrong reasons

  • @burnbacon Distance matters, more distance is more time to prepare for the next battle, it's simply unfair for your enemy to spawn on the next island fully repaired and with resources while you continue to use your supplies and haven't even had time to repair, much less progress in that you were doing.

If you won the battle at least you deserve time as a reward.

  • @tangus-00

Your first time seeing a Bacon response huh?

You are correct. I like it for the Skull of Siren Song, and it makes sense for that but not for the rest of the events.

  • Heres the other thing, one time it spawned me and my crew on an island with an ACTIVE FLAMEHEART EVENT

  • @miserenz Nah, I'm a long time forum member. I mostly keep to myself, but since the OP is a castaway and probably not familiar, I didn't want them to feel dismissed.

  • @tangus-00 first time on forums, been playing sea for like 5 years or so though, but thank you for it
