How come treasure can’t dive with us in the new PvP mode?

  • The title says it all. When you dive all your onboard treasure is lost, including emissary flags. Why is this a thing?

With the Tall Tale migration tunnels treasure doesn’t follow you. That makes sense because you can’t flee with treasure. When you dive, you are literally taking treasure into battle. There is no running because of the new boundaries. Did you know that you can’t dive if there is a player ship in the area? So why can’t we take treasure with us? We can’t use the hourglass to flee so we should be able to take treasure

  • Because you can get far enough away, dive and disappear into the tunnel and then cancel and pop back out without having to fight.

  • because people could escape skilled players and roll the dice for a not as skilled matchup.

especially now with captaincy combined with recent players

then it's interfering with organic activity which is generally a negative thing.

If someone is solo they can significantly improve their chances of holding on to that loot, depending on the scenario.

The lag on treasure for others is also wild.

I fought someone that was stacking empty crates, like over 20 of them and it lagged me big time.

  • Technically speaking. Your still using the portal to “hunt” for ships
When you dive, your server hopping

  • @burnbacon I thought you returned to the same server?

You realize that you pop up exactly where you dived in the first place? How can you use the tunnel to flee?

That could depend on if the game places you somewhere else if there is a ship in the location you dove from or not. I feel like it would try to avoid a collision or potential to get attacked before you spawn in.

It might also be down to the simple fact that they don't want to potentially migrate tons of loot around if they don't have to do it.

I tested this myself. Got a reaper chasing my empty sloop and I used the warmap.

After like, 3 minutes of waiting, I canceled matchmaking and I blasted back to the surface, exactly where I used the warmap, only to see that they stopped chasing me.

    You do.

    You do.

You don't actually leave the server until your ship blackscreens before rising up. There are holding tunnels underneath the map that your ship gets taken to while you wait.
