Play on Steam on Linux with somebody on Xbox.

I have been searching for a while now and I have not found anything about this. I play sea of thieves on Linux Mint through steam and I would like to play with a friend on Xbox without installing Windows. Could I accept a invite through the Xbox website or is there another workaround?
