Phantoms, Spawn

    Hello everyone,

    I play often PvE. And i pretty much dislike phantoms.

    They spawn often. Or it feels often, because they are more anoying.

    What makes them anoying:
    -they are stronger than most normal skellies and need 4 attacks
    -the blink and using very hard to evade attacks
    -they come in packs of 4 and deliver much damage fast
    -you have to fight them. If you are running and jumping from a cliff, they wait at the botton for you (not really, but you cannot outrun them, without skellies)

    If they coming you have to deal with them immediatly. It will take time, because at least one blinks around you. They leave lootbags which feels wrong (getting direct gold... and than also some bags. Never bother to pick them up, because its 2-3 times picking up for 250ish gold each. If doesnt feel good). They annoy me, unlike skellies.

    Perhaps:
    -before the last patch i think, you could hit tham even after they blinked away which was very satisfieing (was the 4 hit, than they exploded)
    -less spawn
    -let them drop something i can pick up in my hand or let them drop one big bag

    I don't care for them because of that super annoying lunge attack they do which acts like a homing attack, hits you from real far away, and high damage.

    Now that I have gotten used to them I really don't mind them or find them terribly hard. They spice things up I think.

    @Panguru3694 Phantoms are easy.

    4 hits isn't that hard to get, especially if they're grouped closely together.

    You can still hit them slightly after they teleport.

    They almost always teleport behind you.

    You can dodge or interrupt their charge, as they will do a particular stance before initiating it (that lasts like a whole 2 seconds).

    You can run away from phantoms - their range is limited.

    They also often do a cut-throat pose, which leaves them vulnerable to attack.

    You can easily block their normal sword attacks, or back away from their blunderbuss attacks.

    Why do you hate free gold?

    @panguru3694 , simply shoot phantoms twice with a pistol and that's it. When out of the 5 pellets , use the sword and always move around them. Besides , each phantom you "kill" may drop pouches with gold coins. Fight them.

    The only time I really find the Phantoms or Crawlers to be annoying is when I'm doing an OOS bounty. You're already limited to 5 shots, and then you've got 2+ phantoms spawning and 2+ variants of ocean crawlers popping up...on top of the crews of skeletons you have to battle. It wouldn't be AS bad if they allowed you to purchase an ammo crate at the merchant for a reasonable price.

    The fact that they are slightly more difficult to fight than skeletons is what makes them good. Skeletons got boring and easy because all they could do was shoot, sword swing, and sword lunge. The phantoms don’t have great deal of health and and if you do an Athena run majority of them drop three phantom gold pouches that give 300-400 gold per pouch so I don’t see any reason to dislike them.

    @illbushido305 aye matey, I agree that the new moves and difficulty makes them better - as does the knockback attack of both the larger red Ocean Crawler and their electrically charge brethren.

    I just wish there was a little more rhyme or reason as to their spawning!

    Just make phantoms only spawn at night. That would help differentiate day and night, reduce how frequent they feel, and just feel more thematic!

    But wouldn't that mean you could only do OoS ghost ship voyages or Flameheart events at night as well? That would make them significantly easier to fail at, I would think.

    I think older content also needs a balancing pass now that new enemies are in the game. Athena's voyages are so much worse with the tougher skeles and all the new enemies (particularly phantoms).

    I for my part dont enjoy the gold the phantoms give me, its not even pain compensation. I also not enjoy how often they spawn (i got 3 spawns of 4 phantoms while doing an athena run with 2minutes between them, "fun"). Everytime i hear the spawning sound i roll my eyes.

    And yes.
    I know they take 4 Sword hits. Two pistol hits. They make animations so you can attack them. I know they are harder than skellis. This is fine with the ocean crawlers.
    But the phantoms are just anoying!

    4 spawn around you, and you just get 2 hits by pistols. Because they just can do it.

    Fighting them on a map with many flowers is fine. Yes, the do the animations, but you will not see them.
    Outrunning them, because i dont feel the need of fighting them, doesnt work, because they just keep teleporting.

    They feel much more disturbing while doing quests. Until i lose that feeling, i will dislike them.
