Why are other people allowed to pick up the Merchant Manifest and sink the ship before you get there?

  • Title says it all. I'm trying to level up Merchant and every time I get a sunken ship mission, someone beats me to it and removes the manifest... making it sink and losing me ALL the loot on board. Why are people like this? It makes me not even want to play the game.

Not sure what you are talking about, the manifest itself won't even appear for them if they get there before you.

That was the case before the latest update atleast.

  • @itz-majman I'm not so sure. I've stolen 2 manifests from sunken wrecks. One was in it's original location un-disturbed, and one was in it's original location but moved directly up a little, so it was floating underwater.

  • @mferr11 My crew has attempted steals on 4 different Merchant missions for other crews (3 before the recent update and 1 after). The 3 prior to the recent update, the manifest didn’t appear to our crew unless the other crew interacted with it first. It’s unknown whether this was the case for the 1 following the Feb. update. One of our crew hid near the mission table until the active Merchant mission completed then went for the steal.

Was there a change where it appears for any crew on the sunken ship now?

  • This should be a fun experiment to test. Form an alliance with another crew and invite them along to see if they can see it before you pick it up. If and when you do this, please keep us apprised of the results. 😉

    Thats unlucky.
Its never happened to me once and ive done it a fair few times.

  • @mferr11

Might be a bug then since I'm certain some crews haven't picked them up at times but i still can't see them

  • @itz-majman Then why am I finding manifests just floating on the water with no ship under them?

you bought a pirate game people steal stuff

  • That happened to me last weekend. We were on the island nearest to the shipwreck, looking for the key after we missed it, when we noticed a ship sitting right on top of where the shipwreck could be. When we went over there, all we saw was a floating manifest. The other ship didn’t seem to be trying to steal it, seeing as they began to flee when we came near.

  • @closinghare208 True but it shouldn't be able to be stolen until the player actually posses it. It just entirely ruins the voyage and player experience. Once looted however then it is fair game for others to take.

Imagine doing an OoS and the skellies spawned with out you once you voted and crews just came and killed them. You'd sail there, find no skellies, think it was bugged, sail back to pick up another one just to arrive at your island and find nothing yet again. This isn't how the game is intended. Imagine being that player, it'd be pointless. You keep getting set out to non-existent voyages and a pointless game.
