I have a fairly decent laptop that I have been playing this game on pretty frequently. I have a GTX 1060, 8gb of RAM, and 5th gen i5. Its not optimal, but have never had a problem running the game at 60 to 90 fps on custom(mostly rare) graphics. I haven't played in around 2-3 weeks and just got on the game last night. I noticed immediately on the loading screen there was a skip ever half second or so, and then on my character model in the main menu. When I went into the game itself it was more of the same. I tried to turn the graphics all the way down, and the resolution to 540p, just to see how the game would react, and it was more of the same. The frame rate counter in the top corner was flickering between numbers too fast to get an actual read on it. I tried to reboot my PC, I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and then rebooted my pc again. Nothing. Same thing happened even on the maiden voyage mission( just in case it was an internet problem idk). I don't know if there was an update or something recently but the game just will not run smoothly and I am unsure how to fix this as it seems it is not strictly a performance issue or even really has to do with my PC specs. Thanks.
Frame Rate Skipping
@mafiasgodfather temps, cpu load, ram load, gpu load, hard disk usage when this happens?
Could be a new or old background task eating up some bandwidth somewhere. Could also be dust buildup in the laptop causing overheating and therefore gpu/cpu throttling. Could honestly be a bunch more things but with no info it is hard to help.
FWIW I have not seen any performance change for me over the last 4 updates. Running a laptop with a 1070, rare graphics, pushing a 1440p 144hz monitor at 90-100 FPS.
