Switching from Console to PC

  • I have starting looking into playing Sea of Thieves on PC rather than Xbox One as I do now. I was wondering if it is possible for me to play on the same account on PC as I did on Xbox One. I would like to keep all gold, doubloons, skins, etc. I have the game as a disc, and not as a download from the Xbox Store. Any advise or feedback would be helpful, thanks!

It depends on where you get the PC version. If you use the Microsoft store, then you'll use the same account you use for Xbox (so you'll keep all of your progress). This means you can bounce back and forth between the two versions, and make permanent progress on your account for both.

It's my understanding (could be wrong) that the Steam version does NOT use the same account as your console, the reason being that a 3rd party (Valve) runs Steam. Can someone who has first-hand experience verify this? I was mistaken; Steam tracks your account as well. Thanks for clarifying @Genuine-Heather!

This is no problem at all. Just sign on with the same account and you can play on any platform. You'll keep all your progress. This also works on the Steam platform as well. I've played on Xbox and PC via Microsoft and Steam. Enjoy!

Nope. Works great on Steam, too. You just have to link your Microsoft account, then all your progress is saved. Arr!

  • @genuine-heather Thanks for the help, I just want to be sure (if you don't mind). So even though I have a hard copy, the data will transfer?

Absolutely. Your progress is linked to your account, so it doesn't matter how you install the software or what platform you use. When you log in, your pirate will be there waiting. Probably drunk, as usual.

    lol, thanks for the information

  • @evilword1328486 though because you own the hard copy and not a digital license you will need to buy the game again.

I figured that much, I was just concerned about the actual save data. Thanks though
