Private Hideouts

  • This is just a random idea that I came up with that could utilise another use of gold and doubloons.

Essentially you start of with a blank canvas that could be in a cave or potentially your own small island. But you get to design it. The private cave version could suit doing it in game, island I could imagine would be similar to the maiden voyage (Its own separate thing)

But you get to design it. Buying various plants, trees, building structures, ship wreck structures, ladders, cannons, etc.

This is merely an idea and would suspect not many would like this as it doesn't sound very "sea of thieves" like but would act similar to the forge mode in halo. This could really spark ideas for new islands or even puzzle like set ups for tall tails. Let me know your thoughts.

  • Random, not really. Other people have posted these same ideas in the past.

Not really a liked idea, more of another “safe haven”

  • @burnbacon I want it as a feature, but It should be a separate gamemode, you go in your own private crew on a private island and mess around. I wanna invite my friends to my island and show them it. I don't want it to be a form of progression, but rather it's own thing. Like, you choose it from the main menu, and then from there, after you are done messing around, you can press a button to select arena or adventure. There could be a parkour course, fake ships that you can sail around, cannons to sink said ships, basically a mini sandbox mode.

  • This idea would be perfect if it is done correctly.

The best way to really implement this would be to have hideouts as a seperate thing entirely outside of the SOT so when you go there you free up a ship slot for another and when you leave your hideout you load into a new instance.

You sail in a similar fashion that you reach the shores of gold, perhaps even having a kind of shroud breaker item of your own which the crew vote on (as a way to select which hideout you go to on a crewed ship)

As you leave the server you cant take loot so you wont use it to escape which is good.

If you are in a quiet server you could sail home then back to SOT into a more lively game instance and vise-versa.

Ship resources will reset but so will damage too!

So in a way not only can you have your own private island.
You have a way to make your ship nice and shiny without scuttling and also server swap without living in the menu screens.

  • I would like to be able to design my own island and upload it to a server for other people to download and explore. Islands that prove to be popular could then be incorporated into the main game.

  • @phantaxus That was my thoughts too, would be cool. Just needs to be incorporated in the correct way I suppose if it’s ever going to work.

  • An own "dungeon" or hideout would be cool.
But I doubt Rare finds the time to put something like this in the game as well.

And will it become a possible target for raids and robberys?
Or is it just some kind of maidenvoyage like instance just for decorative purposes?

  • @odyssee-mit-tee I reakon more like a maiden voyage type of thing but with a script that loads you into a game instance as you near the map edge and vise-versa.

It would be worth their time if Rare made exclusive buildings and decorations exclusively from the store.

Stuff like an order of souls themed house thats all spooky.
A gold hoarder house that has gold coins as carpet and parts of the wood are gold like gold hoarder skin.

Little things like that, would probably generate a lot of interest.
Plus...its a gold money sink for us rich pirates that have been grinding for over a year.

  • Its more just an idea in general. No idea how it would work in the game but the more private "Maiden Voyage" like feature. You can invite people to come in and do little play around fighting and stuff. But like I said I'm not sure if this game is the right style to ever consider this sort of thing.
