Haven't played this game in 2-3 months cuz i was looking for new friends to crew up with. Got me a new crew, and a lot of the stuff i promised them felt weak, because those features are now weak. They felt disapointed as did i.
I ran the seeas a whole day, found no kraken, shark encounters were rare and i killed 2 with 5-6 cannonballs and he didnt even bite back?
Then we did skull ships and those also sank in a few cannon balls. It was so easy it took the fun out of it.
I remmeber when i had to cooperate and struggle with my mates to stay alive and fight and now its so underwhelming... when did this update happen? Cuz its killing it for me and my mates.
Oh and something about the swordplay, it feels worse now. And gun aimdown is slow?
Idk man. Can i sign up for default difficulty servers?
OH AND THE WORSE PART. 4 servers mergers in 3h, empty servers, barely saw 2 player ships.
Is it dying?
Why is it so easy now and clunky?
@liuxiangjiang empty servers you probrably sailed during an inactive time in your region during night i rarely find anyone but morning or late day i find people
Kraken/meg/skelton ships have varying health depending on crew size.
Kraken got nerfed a while back
Larger crews = more random skeletons spawning and more digs to uncover chests on islands.
Krakens only spawn when there are no active forts/fleets.
Megs only spawn in open waters away from islands. If you approach an island the megalodon will leave you alone. Common megs have less health and do less damage. For rarer megs the opposite is true.
Play during active times for your timezone to encounter more ships, otherwise find crewmates in a separate timezone. Also hanging out around the edges of the map will encourage server changes in my experience.
Sword got nerfed.
Servers are kind of sparse at night in your respective regions, so server merges are common. It does not mean the game is dying. The exact opposite has happened with a tally of over 10 million active players worldwide. If I want to have a high PVP experience, I log in during the day. If I want to run tall tales and/or voyages with little interference, I log in at night.
As far as slow aim, you need to go into your game settings and customize it. There is a mid way default now, but you can increase/decrease the aim speed to your liking. Same with other movement and combat aspects.
I have not noticed any major issues with the sword/gun play, but that's just my personal experience. It differs for everyone based on personal preference I suppose.
With regards to Megs, they are most aggressive towards Galleons, somewhat towards Brigantines, and are usually docile towards Sloops.....that's not to say they won't attack though.
Kraken instances are luck of the draw it seems. Sometimes I'll go hours without a single encounter, while other times I'll get hit twice or more in the same session. The Kraken difficulty has been tiered now. Sloops only need to take out 2 tentacles to defeat it. It's a bit too easy in my opinion, but I still have fun.

@liuxiangjiang
They nerfed everything because of moans from a lot of new players.
Rare called this balance.Try going to the roar and actually get hit by the volcanoes now. It's almost impossible :(
Man I loved going into the roar in my Sloop when Galleons and Brigs were in pursuit! Volcanoes where the best for getting the other ships destroyed or at the very least encouraged to change course while you continue your getaway...while also getting the rush of knowing you could also get hit!
@mr-dragon-raaar I've sat still at Molten Sands on the island and didn't get hit once by the volcano. Sucks
I have had the exact opposite experience. I run into Megs and Ghost Ships often. Megs are easier depending on the Meg I find and skelly ships are also varying in difficulty but are also fairly easy to take down once you know what you're doing.
I'm still a fairly new player though so, my opinion might change. Time will tell.

Though I agree with your accessment, particularly about IRL time of day being a factor, the 10 million number is how many people (accounts) have played the game since launch, it's not an active playerbase number.
@realstyli
Corect to that, there ain't 10mil players active, just accounts, I'd be surprised if there even is half a mil active Players on average. This game used to have that vibe that overcooked gave, tense Situations that got overcome by teamwork and was fun when you came out of it on top. It's so easy now it's taking out a lot, and I mean a lot of the fun for me and my buddies. Even before when yall say it was hard, I didn't think it was.
Fighting a enemy brigantine, jumping on board to kill the skulls repairing the ship or using crying chests or explosives. Fun and engaging.
Now I can shoot my cannon 10 times and it sinks. 5 times for smaller ships... Uau
This game was never hard, a few months back it was a bit tedious cuz they added to many skull spawns on islands. But everything else was fine in my opinion and 0art of what made this great. Now its just below average, as there is no real threat on the sea.
Going purely on Twitch numbers and the size of Discord servers, I would say the game is about as popular as Dead By Daylight - which usually peaks around 20-25K on Steam at any one time. Given the game is available on Game Pass and a lot of console players may not even be part of the Discord, the numbers may be a lot higher for SoT. Still, I agree that half a million active users would be a very generous estimate.
It's comparing apples to oranges, I know, and it's not a scientific assessement, by any means.
@liuxiangjiang welcome back, everything scales with ship size and some even got a hit with the nerf hammer.
Combat is being redone in essence and has been simplified to a hack and slash fest or double gun setups. Still being worked on.
I stopped soloing as it isn't a challenge and only join some.of my community crews. Not all the additions are bad, extended ship damage, fire... but PvE is just easy. The tales have some fun elements to them.
Is everyone OK with these changes is what I wanted to ask.
Or would you rather the old pve system? Ik I would. No ideea who was moaning on here of it being to hard as when I used to play before we never lost a Fort or vs a shark or kraken. Just when I was a noob I lost once and only once to a shark.
The ships were probably the most challenging tho.
And I was playing with randoms most of the time and they didn't lose either, it was so rare., reason I am confused as to who found it hard.
