Audio (discord, game, party)

  • I really want any kind of audio input to be transferred to the standard audio output of the game. Everyone who produces audio in this game should be able to be heard by everyone. If the corresponding character is close enough.

    Shoot me right now.
Or listen to my weak arguments.

Right now every crew seems to be in "audio stealth mode", in their own parties, in discord channels or whatever. As a result, people meet at sea who don't communicate, but shoot immediately. 90% of the players of other crews can't communicate with me, 30% of any own Random Crew can't. Wasn't that different in the beginning? I recall everybody talked to everybody. As it is right now, does not correspond to my basic understanding of the game. Am I the only one?

Sure I know it's a fantasy game, but it could be a little --- more --- realism prevail here. I want to make game chat mandatory, depending on the distance. So that at a distance of 10 meters you can secretly whisper with each other, at a close distance you can be heard, at a distance only with a megaphone.

    Is this technically feasible?

    I don't know. But it's almost Christmas. I have a wish.

  • I agree.

The lack of communication in this game is a primary factor to the level of distrust that is, sometimes, insurmountable.
Even if trust isn't the issue, not being heard and not hearing other players makes communication very difficult.
Think of every Arena match where you're begging for directions to the next island or shouting, "we're being boarded!" only to fall on def ears.

Even if we communicate intentions, "I'm peaceful, I want to ally, keep your distance, etc."
The odds that they don't want to hear you or that they cannot hear you makes it near impossible to play the game effectively.

Additionally, knowing that others can hear you if you speak adds a whole 'nother level of intensity that makes being stealthy a part of the game again.
This encourages players to be more strategic as to when to communicate and when not to communicate.
"I'm going silent guys!" Your infiltrator whispers as she jumps off the boat and swims for the fort being battled by two allied gallys.

Hot mics within range and trumpets at distance....for the win!

  • There is a glitch with how in game voice chat works that may explain your displeasure. When you're in an xbox party (voice party), you don't hear anyone who is speaking in game chat. The only way to fix it, at least for me, is to leave the party and disconnect and reconnect my microphone, and even then it sometimes still bugs. I'm quite sure that most crews in adventure these days are premade and in xbox parties, meaning that even if they want to, they cannot hear anyone outside of their party.
(Note- switching to game chat from the party does not work. You have to fully leave the party in order to reconnect game chat in most cases)

  • I agree completely. If we share the same world, we should share the communication system.

  • @heavyreaper102 Never heard of it, nice to know!

  • @heavyreaper102

The glitch also only happens if you have a mic plugged in. If youre in a party but dont have a mic in, you will still be able to hear other players.

    Its really weird/buggy.

I didn't know that part actually. But yeah, xbox parties mess up game chat in this game.
