The Volcanoes in the Devils Roar Should be Changed

  • If you check out the Forsaken Shores trailer you'll notice at around 40 seconds and around 56 seconds in the amount of volcanic rock being thrown from the volcano is soo much more compared to what we have now. The Roar is meant to be a difficult place, but it has been nerfed over and over again. I propose that the volcanoes be increased in what they actually throw out to represent what is seen in the trailers, but make it completely random where they end up.

    I have always considered that the volcanoes of the Devil's Roar, a place we first heard described as "A place of darkness, where fire and ash consume all", should be quite difficult to survive even for the best of crews. I think making the volcanoes not go off as often, but go off for longer and be much more powerful in their hits would do this nicely. As for range, maybe toning them down a little bit but giving a chance for stray rocks to fly out and hit further ships, so you are't just safe beyond a certain distance. I don't think complete randomization is a good idea, that normally results in the volcanoes being mostly harmless as I believe Rare likely discovered in testing.

  • It feels too easy in the roar these days. Increase the accuracy and number of projectiles, but reduce the length of the eruption to maybe 2 minutes. Because lets be honest, you either sail away straight away and live, or stay and die. No one dies to a volcano at the 4 minute mark unless they are extremely careless or like playing chicken :)

    Take all the projectiles that fire in the normal timeframe and condense it all into a smaller window. Absolute chaos during an eruption, and less time sitting in a safe zone fishing. Its tedious(and not dangerous) waiting for an eruption that started just as you get close...

    @UltmateRagnarok i really wouldn't want the eruption to last longer, its already boring wating as it is now...

  • I do agree it needs to be buffed. Eruptions should mean death for not escaping! But maybe they should have minor eruptions also so the other features of the roar have a purpose. These wouldn't have an earthquake and either have the same or weaker lava rocks as the current ones, but be frequent and still have hot water/ground.

  • To me the volcanos should go off frequently in short durations. Forcing crews to rowboat to shore and fear death on the shores since the trip back to the island will be more time consuming.

    Make the landing party really feel the danger of the lands.

  • In my opinion, the Volcanoes should erupt with different phases.

    • Phase 1 : Some rocks, more little rock and some medium, with explosions as currently
    • Phase 2 : Huge explosion to warn players that the Phase 2 is beginning. Same as Phase 1 but more little rocks and medium, and spawn of large rocks
    • Phase 3 : Huge explosion to warn the players the volcano enter the next phase. The volcano throw rocks more frequently
    • Phase 4 : The final explosion, warning players the volcano is near to totally explode and throw rocks everywhere without stop for the last 30 seconds.
      I think it's the best way to balance it and to create different challenges over the time !
