Feedback Regarding Long-Standing Issues with False Bans in Sea of Thieves

  • Dear Rare Team,

I’m writing to express serious concerns about the long-standing problem of false bans in Sea of Thieves. A major issue is fake FOV clips being used to unfairly ban players who have not broken any rules.

Another significant problem involves cases where players’ accounts were hacked and used for cheating, yet the original owners still receive bans. This is unfair and harms the community.

These false bans damage player trust in the system and negatively impact the game environment. Often, players are not properly informed of the reasons for their bans and don’t have a real chance to appeal effectively.

Sea of Thieves is an amazing game with a passionate community. We ask for greater transparency, a better appeals process, and more thorough investigations of bans to prevent such injustices from continuing.

Thank you for your attention. I hope you take these issues seriously.

    Sincerely,
    MSlechtic15

A lot of the time cheaters try to use the "my account got hacked" for an excuse. Good riddance to those players.

If your acocunt got hacked it's because you did not secure it properly. That's on you.

Yeah.. I don't buy that. SoT has no money-value to a hacker like CS or any game where you can have a inventory. Hacking a random player and then cheat, for what reason exactly? like @CaptDirtyOar said; excuse in an attempt to get unbanned.

It's not hard to avoid getting banned, play fair, don't be a booty to people and don't do things that obviously against the rules and you be fine. Always chocking to me when people say SoT just bans players with no proof, well they most likely deserved it in one way or another.

Stay positive on the seas and don't "bully" people for the sake of it.

  • As much as people complain about having to submit evidence, I highly doubt it.

  • @captdirtyoar He couldn’t cheat on Xbox, but Rare doesn’t care either way.

  • @itz-majman My friend got banned on Xbox for cheating. His account was hacked, he changed the password, Rare gave it back to him, but the hacker somehow got in again and this time they didn’t return it. He couldn’t even cheat on Xbox. They should’ve banned the IP address of the person who cheated, not an account with 300 days played

  • Surprised this topic hasn’t been closed sooner.

You can cheat on consoles. It's trickier. Besides, you can get banned for behavior too.
