Why would I fish all over again.

  • I finished hunters call, a milestone of grinding to say the least. So now they add the same commendations because they are too lazy to come up with new ones. I put the time in and 98% the game, who do I need to prove it too, so my ship can have a lame trinket. What was the thinking of the developers. Will they ever be original again or is it just deeds turned into new grind objectives? Why can't you be more rare, it breaks my heart.

  • @p4l3ryder the point of the milestones is to show how you enjoy playing the game, so don’t worry about fishing if you don’t enjoy it.

  • The Doctor is correct. These aren't supposed to be things that you "grind out" to get a thing. They are supposed to tell the story of what you actually enjoy doing in the game, and allow you to decorate your ship with trinkets and trophies that showcase your particular play-style (except PvP). If you don't want to fish anymore, then don't! Are the milestones tied to any achievements?

You don't have to prove anything to anyone. Just do what you want and you'll be rewarded for that.

  • Why would I fish all over again.

    To answer the quetsion...

    You don't have too. End.

  • @p4l3ryder Ahoy matey!

Your posts above have been removed - Please remember to talk to your fellow pirates in a respectful manner. This is your final warning.

Actions will be taken should I witness this action from you again, this is not the first time.

  • [Mod edit]

  • @p4l3ryder That may be your opinion.
But we ask that you speak to members like you would like to be spoken to yourself... And that was not it!

  • How it is designed I think the only thing that really makes sense it to name it Fisher and rework feared and hunting.

I don't see this happening but it should imo to not only make more sense but generally be more appealing. Having hunter be locked behind a bunch of fishing is silly to me.

Bare minimum adjustment imo should be to allow selling fish found/stolen which would be a significant QoL improvement. Not many are gonna do it, even less than legendary hunter, might as well bring back passive progress through ship wreck/barrel checking again, imo

Other than all that just speak with your activity. If you enjoy stuff party it up, if you don't just avoid participating in it so at least people aren't participating in things they don't like and so that the devs can eventually have a clearer picture of what people are participating in and what they aren't.

If people do what they don't like then things never really change.

It'll require some sacrifice as we all like rewards to some degree but it is what it is, gotta speak through activity.

  • Thats the same issue i am having too.

  • @maximusarael020 technically yes milestones are attached to achievements as you need to get 12 ships to legend status in order to buy 15 ships for the achievement.

  • @magus104 or you can buy a ship, dismantle it, and then remake it. Will cost you 250,000 Gold each time, but will save you having to make a ship Legendary.

  • @burnbacon Just like he doesnt have to log in and play - there have been games that said "well, just dont play if you dont like it"....and when enough people took that advice then that game died.

Fishing, in the game, is a pretty tedious activity. It was made less bad by the fact that the contributions of the entire crew went towards the achievements, as they were assigned on fish sold, not caught. Now that no longer applies, its each pirate's own catches and only one person gets to progress their ship milestones at a time too. The social aspect of "fishing galleon groups" took a real hit in a way that no other aspect of the game did. It is a lot less fun than it was and anyone who really worked on their fishing is pretty burned out (even though it used to be more forgiving, its now much harder).

Players made it fun and made it a group activity - its now solo and the fun part is not really there.

and it not counting found and stolen fish cuts way down on productivity and adventure longevity

ask pretty much any long time adventurer especially solos or duos, having that reason to check the barrels and shipwrecks was something to look forward to, every session, even if the session went south.

  • What I don’t understand is that you say fishing is tedious and you don’t much like it. Well that’s fine. Why in that case do you even want a trinket for your ship to show that you have done more fishing? Or that fishing is your thing, when it isn’t?

Let’s say for arguments sake that there is a guy who LOVES to fish in this game, and in fact, doesn’t do much else. After completing legendary hunter there wouldn’t have been much left for him to do.
Now though, now he can work toward the trinkets and show HIS milestones based on how he plays.

Same goes for PvE, like killing skellie or digging for chests, BINGO, you can show it off.

Whilst the PvP ones maybe don’t really exist, you can still flex how many cannons you have shot, or gold sold to reapers. Unlikely to be owned by previously mentioned fisherman.

This game isn’t designed for YOU. It’s corses for horses.

There are also many many different trinkets, more than you can display at one time. So it doesn’t matter which ones you don’t have, there is no commendation or Xbox achievement for it.

I’ve said before, don’t want to do it? Then don’t, that’s the point of it and I get a mouthful from people quoting every word I say, and micro analysing it. But it’s that simple. Just don’t do it, and don’t worry about it. 🤷‍♂️

  • im sorry, but, "dont like it dont play it" is the worst kind of comment in a forum.
Let me hand it back to u:
U dont want to debate - dont talk in a forum
    simple as that

  • @parrotlord6426

    I am debating it.

Clearly the whole point of the milestones has gone completely over your head. It’s exactly the point of it.

I also never said don’t play it. I said don’t do it. There are plenty of other activities in the game that the players can work towards

  • I would just sell meat/fish I stumble across in the game through PvP or shipwrecks and you eventually get there. Yes it's a bit lame that you can have all the fishing commendations and now "forced" to do it all over again for a silly trinket

  • sir have you even PLAYED another fishing minigame?.
I mean, I have fished for SOOO many hours in animal crossing....
AND LIKE HALF OF MY CATCHES WERE SEA BASS
AT LEAST YOU GET TO SEE WHAT YOU CATCH
I throw my line in to try and get what I think is a nice expensive fish...
    BUT NOPE
    C+ BASS STRIKES AGAIN
I fished for a lot in stardew valley...
Probably one of the more tame fishing minigames out there....
    BUT STILL
I CAUGHT SO MUCH LITREAL TRASH
NO VALUE UNLESS I GET THE LVL7 MACHINE TO TURN IT INTO 1 WOOD
TRASH IN SOT IS WORTH A WHOLE 5 DOUBLOONS!
    and Terraria's fishing minigame...
    oh my god....
I spent so many hours fishing for ore....
I got like so much high tier ore....except i needed an anvil
MADE OF MID-TIER ORE WHICH I GOT ALMOST NONE OF
    THERE WASN'T EVEN A "MINIGAME"
    JUST MINDLESS CLICKING FOR HOURS
CATCHING FISH FOR SOME SPOILED KID
LIKE 3 HOURS OF CLICKING AND ALL I GOT WAS UNSMELTED ORE AND A LIFE RING THAT HAS NO USE
    trust me bucko
    it can get MUCH WORSE
this is actually one of the more tame fishing minigames, once you get the hang of it
you either like fishing minigames or you don't
    I actually like em
I get it you don't want to grind
Go do your pvp and pve
I'll just be here playing pvf (player vs fish)

  • Imo you should fish "all over again" because you enjoy fishing. Your Milestones should represent what you actually like to do and not what you feel like you have to do. I don't like fishing, thus I won't have those milestones under my name.

This wasn't a completionist update imo. The Milestones are infinite, there is nothing to complete here anyways.

  • @p4l3ryder I agree mate lazy. This game has nothing for players who have played from the start. Just rehash after rehash.

  • @pirateryang they patched this last week

  • @pabio-escobar what kind of course do horses take. Can they get a degree.

All people who actually enjoy fishing will have the Admired Ruby Splashtail Plaque in a year. It's still ridiculous.

    You don't fish much dontcha?
    Catching splashtails are easy
you just...don't put bait on the line
You can get 100 splashtails in a week, even if you're busy
of course I'm trying to catch more valuable fish...

Actually, I fish a lot. My perception is skewed because I always hunt for bait - specific fish.

    exactly
trying to get a trophy for any fish that doesn't need bait is pretty easy-if you actually go for them.
