Act 2
Calling all Emissaries! A mysterious and extremely valuable treasure is rumoured to be tucked away in the Vault of Molten Sands Fortress. The Trading Companies are sending their most loyal Emissaries to seek a key to activate the Fortress and fight their way to the prize. If you manage to acquire – and keep hold of – an Orb of the Banished, the payout will be more than worth your time. But be warned, you aren’t the only Emissary on the hunt…
New Features in Season 18
Something has awoken in The Devil’s Roar and its impact can be felt across the seas! The Dark Brethren and those in their employ have made use of their newly smuggled Black Powder Barrels, blasting through solid rock to expose what they’ve been searching for. But as a result, a formidable Ancient fighting force has been roused. Will you be able to succeed against the fabled Eternal Guard?
Sanctuaries
of the Banished
The Dark Brethren have finally revealed what they needed all those Black Powder Barrels for: archaeological excavations! Across The Devil’s Roar, lost Sanctuaries of the Banished have been unearthed, locked tight but hiding intriguing secrets – and, of course, buckets of loot.
To get your hands on it, and maybe find out more about how these Ancient structures came to be, you’ll have to hunt down the keys to these Sanctuaries of the Banished and try your luck against the sentinels that still seek to protect them…
Find the Keys
Even so many years after their disappearance, the Banished Ancients aren’t willing to hand over their treasures so easily. If you want to enter their Sanctuaries, you’ll need to track down a key from one of the Eternal Guard keeping it safe!
Chests of Banished Tribute
The excavations have unearthed more than Sanctuaries – they’ve revealed hoards of new treasures too! These high-value chests can only be found within an opened Sanctuary of the Banished, but if you can find one and bring it back safely, the Trading Companies will reward you handsomely.
Armed and Dangerous
The Eternal Guard are no mere mindless drones; these warriors were trained for combat and even now you’ll find them a cut above your average skeleton or Phantom threat. The Guard are known to be more than proficient with hunting spears and blowpipes, so stay light on your feet!
Cunning Strategists
Weapons aren’t the only tricks the Eternal Guard have learned to employ. In combat, they can disappear in a burst of poison gas, before reappearing to strike from the shadows. Even in defeat they reveal one last surprise: an explosive deathblow intended to take their attacker with them!
Far and Wide
While the Sanctuaries of the Banished can only be found in The Devil’s Roar, their undead guardians roam further afield. Their sarcophagi can be found on any large island throughout the Sea of Thieves, so keep an eye out for telltale signs the next time you head ashore.

The Devil’s Roar is becoming an ever more dangerous place to be, and its residents have no choice but to recognise that. To thank you for taking the risk, all Trading Company representatives within the Roar offer increased rewards for loot handed in to them throughout Season 18!

The Smugglers never miss an opportunity; they’ve already installed two new Hideouts within The Devil’s Roar and dispatched more of their representatives. Track down these Hideouts, say hello to the newest residents of the Roar and see what opportunities they bring!

As Season 18 progresses, you’ll have a chance to learn more about the lost history of the Banished Ancients and just why the Dark Brethren have been searching for their Sanctuaries. Keep your eye out for Journal entries on your travels to uncover the secrets hidden within…

Plunder Pass Rewards
With a fresh Season comes fresh Renown to be acquired. This time, pirates who pick up the most recent Plunder Pass will be rewarded for all their adventures with the mysterious Nightshade Sentry ship set, including Collector’s items, and the Nightshade Sentry Mask, Jacket and Gloves, as well as the usual allotment of 750 Ancient Coins to spend in the Pirate Emporium!

Earn free goodies by watching participating streamers! Simply link your Sea of Thieves and Twitch accounts, then tune in when Twitch Drops are active to earn cosmetic rewards for use in your own adventures.
