Personal Map

  • Handheld map showing where you are in the SOT.

Seperate from your ship, you can use it to find the nearest island or outpost whilst adrift at sea in a rowboat.

Perhaps even have it point you to the location where you can trigger your sunk ship to resurface and respawn or if you use the mermaid, show you where the mermaid will take you (The place your ship spawns)

Means you can row your storage crates to where your ship will respawn and basically use mermaid to spawn in your ship and hop back on to piracy

  • There is an app you can use on your phone.

It’s kinda nice cause you can even mark the islands with Cannons and stuff.

I’m just to lazy to use it.

But I do like your idea. I’ve been in many scenarios Where the ship
Has sunk and we don’t know where we sunk. Even when we have a crew member or two at the site we sunk at and the rest on the new boat we can’t always find each other.

    That’s why you should
Always keep a Reapers Chest on board!

  • If this is added then where would the benefit be from memorizing the map? I like that the ship is the only thing with the full size map.

I imagine they want rowboating around the world to be harder than just sailing there due to the fact you don't have a map, you have to constantly row, and if you die you don't respawn on the rowboat.

I personally rowboat all over the world cause its much smaller and harder to see by players and makes sneaking up on them easier. I like how difficult it is because I don't want every one to be able to do it. Not everything in this game needs to be spoon fed so everyone can have an easy time with it. Learn the world and learn to keep track where you are. If you must have a map download one.

    Spoon fed, seriously?
Not everybody wants to use their data to go to some website to find my bearings.
There isnt really any advantage you have over players anyways as you can always row to nearest island and find your way there, or wait til night and look for lights to an outpost.

Im simply posting an idea for convenience, not because i cant track my way around because i can assure you, i too know the map well.

Who's to say everyone else who has it does?

  • @daringclarky Oh, my, no. It's good that you can't see the map except on your ship.

  • You can already do this just by simply looking at your map once you spawn in from sinking or just remembering what island you're on before or when you sank if you're still on the island, also depending on whether or not you have a rowboat to row everything back to your ship.

I can understand if you were sailing alone this would be tricky but that's why I sail with friends so they can tell me what island they're on with the ship and can tell me what direction to head to as long as I remember the island I'm on after the ship sinks.

Us veterans will use landmarks to figure out what island we're on in case we cant remember, but you can always write/type down the name of the island you last visited to help ensure you wont forget aswell. Check random bottle quests and see if part of the riddle is completed for arriving or explore a little bit maybe you'll come across a random skull bottle quest in your voyage wheel and defeat the skellies, see if it gets finished or not, that could also tell ya where you're at.

  • Part of the game is navigation. It would be way to easy if you had a personal map that shows where you are at all times. Specially when doing x marks the spot maps. When you are away from your boat you shouldn’t know where it’s at whether it sinks or someone takes off with it. It would render the map on the boat useless.

I think if anything it would be cool to remove the boat from the map or make a cursed chest that removes boat from map so you have to navigate based on knowledge and direction.

  • @daringclarky I do think you should have a personal map, but not this powerful. It would be nice to have a map for if you get separated from your ship, but at most it should have a vague circle indicating the are you are in, without being to precise or giving you a direction you are headed in. The rest should be up to you and a compass. The game holds your hand enough, there is no reason to give you a personal GPS, especially one marked with spawn locations.

  • You have all made good points and have convinced me that yes, things are prob better as they are.

  • @andyxxpanda1290 Never though of the x mark the spot.
Good point matey, you’ve changed my mind 😊
