Character Classes

  • Hear me out. Im sure this thread has been postes before, but i want to throw in my gold coin. The game being completely balanced is SOT's strongest and weakest feature. We all love not being destroyed by higher lvls, but it gets a bit dull sometimes right? Diversity is what we need. Classes with specific perks would encourage a mich broader type of gameplay. My ideas fir such classes include:
The warrior (based off the TT warrior) Imbued with mighty strength and speed, the warrior deals +15% damage and can recover faster from missed swings. Meet his blade at your peril.
The Gunslinger. With a sharp eye and keen intellect, the sharpshooter has longer vision in telescopes, able to mark enemy targets and holds 3 additional bullets.
The Swashbuckler. The sailor. The ship is his beast, and him its master. Being able to manipulate the boats rigging much quicker, able to hold an additional 3 cannonballs and planks and repair much faster, this sea dog is ready for any voyage.
The Mystic. The Order of Souls, shrouded in mystery, has chosen you to represent them on the Sea of Thieves. This grants the boon of scaring skeletons to run, to recover from cursed cannonballs quicker and the added ability of a mystic skull that shoots green cursed cannonballs you collect.
    The Explorer.
Exploring the Sea of Thieves is a big job. If your up for it, the added ability of 3 extra food slots, additional health, and no fall damage will come on handy.

    Thoughts?

  • Interesting, but no. I don't like the idea of being shoehorned into a set role, or having to make multiple pirates to fit each 1 role (which I would then have to level up separately).

  • @wickedlystrange I just need the headline to say: NO

  • @wickedlystrange I am afraid I would also have to say no to the idea.
Rare always had the vision of all being equal apart from their natural ability and experience. If you start adding in classes, with their own unique traits a game becomes unbalanced.

Games like WoW and other online RPGs with ever-changing classes never find that equilibrium and as such players spend months at a time having to rebalance their characters when a new nerf drops.

I disagree with this, but I do think it would be cool to have more weapons and a way to customize your ship for combat(replace the harpoon with a ram, or armor, etc.)
